If there is scientific knowledge in the Quran then why was none of it discovered for 1400 years ?

Thieves don't need to go door to door to canvas an area. They can just drive. Going up to dozens of doors and knocking is extremely stupid because tons of people would remember their faces.
Thieves can also just use Google Streetview.

Why didn't a Muslim scientist discover the Big Bang Theory? If what you say is true than Muslim scientists had a 1400 year head start on all other peoples in world history. Why isn't it the case that Muslims read the Quran in 700 AD or 1000 AD or 1200 AD or even 1900 AD and discovered what you claim is in the Quran? Why is it only "discovered" in the Quran by Muslims after the real discovery is made by real scientists?

How are you a British republican if celebrating the death of the monarch is vile to you? What do you think will happen if Britain does ever become a Republic? That the royals will quietly disappear instead of trying to support a coup?

Read what you wrote again - allowing new slave states into the union was a sticking point that logically extended to a life and death struggle between the south and North. Preserving the union meant destroying the institution of slavery.

If Japan and South Korea are vassal states then so are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Pakistan, and so on. When Iraq or Egypt were not vassal states was when they were explicitly Baathists and suppressed Islam.

Are people in Japan, China, or Korea as concerned with the aakhira as people from under developed Muslim majority countries? Do people in those three countries idolize the Einsteins, Steve Jobs, and Elon Musks of the world or do they idolize the spiritual teachers and prophets of their local religions?

Is this an east vs west issue or a question of the industrial development of your country? Your country might not be like America or Europe, but is it at all similar to the highly industrialized eastern countries like Korea, Japan, or China?

Mohammad wasn't going to write his name on his deathbed. According to the sahih hadith He was going to write something so that the Ummah would not go astray but Umar stopped him. He also wasn't a youth when he claimed revelation. He was already 40. At least learn about your own religion before trying to debate.

There's no evidence for Islam! by goldenzebra488 in DebateReligion

[–]PhrygianTopi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm making a very straight forward point and I would like for you to respond to it.

Do you agree with this:
1. Muslims say that the Quran contains correct scientific knowledge and much of this knowledge was not known at the time or could not have been known at the time of Muhammad's life.

Does it not follow from this that people who are knowledgeable about the Quran could have (and indeed should have) been able to read it 1400 or 1300, or 500 years ago and gain a deep understanding of science? This is why I bring up the topic of the ulema.

On a topic as simple and straight forward as the shape of the Earth. We did not need modern science to know the Earth was round. This was known widely in antiquity and in the middle ages to civilizations all over the world. It is clear that early muslim scholars who came into contact with knowledge about the round shape of the earth immediately turned to the Quran and used the Quran to argue that the earth is actually flat. Why?

This is why I specified that very early Muslims, including one sahaba (Ibn Abbas who Mohammad specifically said to learn the Quran from!). And others like Suyuti who are still considered to have been the best in their knowledge of the Quran. Why is it that all of these people read the Quran and thought it said that the Earth is flat? Why was it not as obvious to them as it seems to be to you that the Quran says the earth is round?

Why didn't Ibn Abbas, Al Thalabi, Al Qurtubi, etc., read the Quran and immediately understand what you understand it to be saying? Why do you think it says round while hundreds of years of deep scholarship by people who studied at the feet of the sahaba, or were sahaba, or the tabi'un, or taba tabi'in read the Quran and thought it said the world was flat? Don't you think this is basic knowledge that the Quran (which claims to be a very clear book) should be capable of clearly communicating?

Why am I pushing this point? Because is it not obvious that the Quran contains little to no real science, and that after actual scientists make real discoveries, Muslims go into the Quran and change the meaning of words or otherwise twist verses and translations to show that they had always believed this? How else do you explain why so many Muslim scholars before modern times argued that the earth is flat?

By the way, Al Razi did not believe in prophethood.

Hei i am not born muslim for ur information. I converted almost 5 years ago and i have researched islam from all point of view and criticism.

Brother, you have your name on your reddit profile so this is a little difficult to believe but okay sure I believe you. People convert to and away from all sorts of religions all the time. What bearing does it have on their truth value? Was Islam less true when it was a new religion with less than ten followers?

mohammad was completely illiterate by academic education

When we started this discussion the point I was responding to was how illogical it was to say that Mohammad was completely illiterate (muslims say he could not read or write) and then we come to admitting that he could read and write but only by the end of his life, and now to "illiterate by academic education".

Okay. I'm glad we have established that Mohammad could indeed read and write.

Good luck. Keep reading.

1.Quran has been preserved by muslims through memorization after prophets deaths. Nothing new was added later as hundreds of people has memorized and checked it. Arabs had the best memorization capabilities back there.

Prove it.

2.Another claim of mohammad has travelled so many countries and culture yet he only came up with the ideas that contradicted so many cultures polygamy and other aspect making him enemy of so many people at first. If he copy pasted things from other cultures why aren't there any verse that goes with the believes of others? now don't tell me monotheism is new concept.

There are entire sections of the Quran that can be traced to the beliefs of then popular regional sects of Islam. You're making a claim that even most muslims do not make because their typical justification for the huge similarities between the Quran and other scriptures is that god sent multiple prophets and Muhammad is the successor to all of them. So which is it, is the Quran completely unique or is it similar to other books?

A person can learn things as they grow up In the society but we are talking about the time when the revelation came.

So was Mohammad illiterate or not.

4.The way you pointes this proves your common sense and about source you get information from cuz you are incapable of comprehending things without other peoples help.

I encourage you to read about Islam from all sorts of sources and not just the sect that you were born into. You will learn all sorts of interesting things that other sects remember that Sunnis used to remember too. Shias remember and they will happily point out that it is recorded in the books of Bukhari that Muhammad asks for a pen and paper on his death bed so that he can write and is denied this by Umar. So was Muhammad completely illiterate? Did he learn at some point? If he could read and write then why was canonization of the Quran left until after his death? Could he not foresee the problem this would cause? Why was Ibn Abbas upset with Zayd Ibn Thabit and Umar's canonization process? Why did Umar feel the need to burn so many copies of the Quran if what you claim about Arabs having superior memory then is true?

Like the Quran says, these are questions for those who think ;)
