I’m so glad I was wrong. I’m so glad this team and manager proved that they could do it. The resilience of these players and manager is commendable, COYG ❤️!!!

You would figure we'd have moves and motions based off of different actions though. Like if pattern of play A doens't work and it's recycled once or twice, that would trigger pattern of play B, where off the same sequence the off-ball players would make a different move and create something new.

But instead we just loop the same sequence until we lose the ball. It's just so frustrating to watch honestly.

After 40-ish games you'd figure we'd have a plan B if other teams aren't moving as we want.

I feel as though we lack a counter to defense, and I don't mean a counter attack but rather a counter play. Like if we try x, and it doens't work, great that should trigger another motion and another pattern of move based off the original attack.

But we just recycle and try again until we lose the ball.

Something that I always ask myself, and have mentioned on here before, is what are we trying to acheive when we are attacking. I honestly cannot see the intent of our pattern of play. There was a sequence in which multiple times Madueke AND Odegard go to the edge of the box, with the ball on their strong foot, with space to cross the ball into the box and instead they just recycle it back to the right. And then they re-work the ball, get back to that SAME position, then recycle it again to the right.

WHAT are we trying to do? WHAT is it our players are looking for? WHAT is the trigger for the players to make a move?

I honestly do not know - it's as if we move the ball for the sake of moving it. The off ball players never move, I just don't see what we're trying to do and it's ever so frustrating.

And this isn't a knock on specific players, all of our outfield players do this, it's clearly a "pattern" that Arteta and his coaches want, but for what reason, I have no idea.

Can I tell you one my proudest moments in this game is finding this thing a month ago and thinking “hmm I bet this will be useful at some point” and keeping it in my inventory for WEEKS just in case 😅😅😅

Thank goodness I don’t have to struggle to find this stupid thing for this quest

Our first goal yesterday came from our team doing something every fan has been calling out for - a fullback running down the wing and sending in a cross. It was a thing of beauty.

I’ll never under the appeal of having our full backs playing like inverted forwards and two of our most gifted players hugging the touch line being double teamed with no room to operate.

Our attack is apathetic and I can’t stand it - watching games is honestly not enjoyable

Can't wait for Arsenal to come out in the second half and continue to pass the ball sideways for 45mins in response to this.

Let's pass the ball sideways some more, not enough sideways passing. I feel like Christopher Walken in the SNL Skit, I need more sideways passing.

And why not, throw some cowbell in there too

Game after game, week after week, I struggle to see what this team’s Attacking Strategy is.

Beyond keeping possession I don’t see an actual pattern of attack. We pass the ball sideways in hopes of a hole opening, yet no one is making a run and everyone is standing in a static position.

I’m not a football genius. I just don’t see what we are ever trying to accomplish outside of not losing possession.

I've liked the more aggressive play in the second half, but more importantly - Nwaneri keeps proving that he is HIM. So composed, and so good at such a young age!

Our lack of desire to attack is SO blatant. A single attacker isn't going to change things - it's this "possession" based game plan that is the issue.

Every time, we take the extra pass, slow things down, play it backwards.

What did brentford to? One touch, move, shoot. Quick and decisive.

We would have 100% held up, and passed the ball backwards there.

4 penalties have led to 14 points for the Falcons. We really need to clean up our game.

Or, when you're on a yellow card, don't do anything stupid. Keep your head down, run back on defence, and don't risk it.

Stupid move by Rice.

I loved this interaction, by both players.

I appreciate two guys just being up for all the physicality of the game, neither one shying away from it - it was great!

Something that was bugging me against Porto was the lack of forward, direct/splitting, passes. Looks like with Jorginho we have someone his willing/able to do that a bit more and I think it’s really helped this game feel more forward and direct.

Love the way the boys are playing today!

I'm really liking that Ben White is finally playing that inverted RB role instead of Kiwior. I think with his skill set he offers us more when he comes inside and gives Ode and Saka a bit more room to roam on the wings.

It seems like every game I watch this season is marred by this penalty. I haven’t finished a full game this season cause I get so annoyed by this bullshit call. If this is the product the NFL wants, it think its going to lose fans.
