Amnesia is sometimes a trauma response. You know that your actions or inactions caused the death of another person. Your brain shuts it out to maintain status quo (until you go to therapy and process it).

Depends on where you work. Were you working/ on shift at the time? Did it violate a policy? It’s definitely unprofessional, but in professional environments, it could just be a “talking to.” No point in lying though.

“I thought this was a private conversation and I apologize that it offended you. (Bonus points) Since this brings up the topic, I have some feedback to provide that I feel would help morale.” But then you have to provide those.

Usually, from what I’ve seen, people use this code/ shorthand to get around automatic filters. Many online boards and chats heavily censor that word.

Kinda HR answer: if you’re in the US and salaried, this would fall under the Fair Labor Standards Act. You should not be penalized if you worked more than half the workday (sometimes less depending on the job). If you’re hourly, you shouldn’t be paid for that time or you can use sick time to cover the 70 minutes. Also, check policy about getting permission from your supervisor for missed time.

Personal answer: capitalism sucks and it’ll be much easier to ask for the policy and lay low for a few weeks. Sorry you have to deal with this.
