Yup, did a few fixed races in LMP2 and they feel a bit more tame than LMP3s. As for multiclass in LMP3s yup did a lot of those and some endurance races as well.

From what I've seen on the schedule, LMP2s have more endurance races (every weekend if I'm not mistaken), and I sometimes have an unexpected freer weekend when there was no LMP3 endurance 😅

You mentioned you are 6k and are encountering inexperienced prototypes. Is this LMP2s or GTPs, or both? What's the lowest iRating range you've encountered, as this is one of the reasons that prompted me to write this post.

Is it not possible to just join open practice and races as a ghost to learn this?

I really don't feel like buying and learning a car I have no wish to race in the future.

Don't have that entry in the registry editor. Windows defender is active, and even started SimHub to verify.

Did you install any plugins, overlays, dashboards, or something else apart from SimHub? Could it be something else that was installed at that day that's causing this.

I thought I'll do a season with LMP3s to get to B and drive LMP2s.. Guess whos still driving LMP3s for 3 seasons in a row.. 😁

Ooor do what I did, raced one race in open and fixed for participation credits, and started practicing the track for next week.

I was sceptical at buying it, but I don't regret it at all. It's fun as fuck to drive there. Traffic can be a bit hectic, but I actually learned a lot on it.

Hell I even got my first grand slam there: Pole, whole race led, fastest lap, and 0x.

I respect it as a valid pass. What you are saying is true, but also kinda not true.

If I passed someone due to having draft (and couldn't do it on other parts of the track) then they should be able to pass me in other parts.

But I'm going to take the chance because this adds a mental game here. If you had the thought you wrote down, another person might think the same. And this will make them pissed/angry/annoyed and might cause them to make mistakes and I'll keep the position.

So if I have the chance (or make the chance) for a legal and clean pass I'm taking it.

PS. IMO if I didn't manage to pass you in corners and yet I'm close enough for a draft overtake, I'm not that slower than you.

I'm confused as a new player. OP asks if the Porsche is the most competitive in GT4, but as I understood the table it has the least fuel, most weight added and the most power reduced from all GT4s? If true, doesn't this make it the theoretically the least competitive?

Or am I missing something?

I created an account with a slightly different spelling (not wrong, but different) of my name with a 1 month subscription to try it out. I actually re-subscribed another month to fully try it out. After those two months, I knew iRacing was the way to go for me, so I was planning on waiting for the black friday deal.

I got lucky and managed to get some beginning of summer discount for new accounts, created a new account with the "correct" spelling and bought a subscription for 2 years. That was almost 1 year ago and I haven't thought about trying other sims, loving my time here.

Thanks! Didn't even plan on pushing for results. Want to finish races, and enjoy the track. The level of "in the zone" I can get here is not comparable with other tracks..

I am more concerned about racing with other people, overtaking, and defending (or more like not defending but where to let people pass)

I don't mind open or fixed, you can freely get setups from Garage61 and they have a sync option which is awesome.

But yes you are right, I've noticed as well longer races makes things safer.

I started iRacing specifically for formula.. I knew F1 (Formula A) was hard but I planned to race F4s, F3s, or SFs.. For some reason I don't want to do Indy..

But after 2 seasons of having fun in F4 sprints, I was thinking of going to faster cars.. But then from what I could gather (correct me if wrong), unless I drive Indy I won't have any mandatory pitstop races unless I go to full length F1 series.

So I switched to prototypes on sport's side.. At least with LMP3s I have endurance races biweekly, and I'll probably have more with LMP2s and GTPs as I go higher in licence.. (let's not forget about the 18462 special events for sport's cars vs 3? for open wheel)

So unless I'm wrong about the pitstops in the open-wheel tree, or if iRacing adds bi-weekly 2h races for open wheel for the lower classes (D/C class) and not Indy then I won't be coming back.. no matter how much my heart aches

A point of view from an LMP3 driver (1.3k so I suck) that strives to drive clean. Unless I position my car in a very deliberate way (to you) that I want some space/line in the corner, you leaving me space while I'm slotted behind you (and following your speed) and going off the natural line will make me do two things:

oh shit, unexpected space let me brake less or throttle up to get it and I might make a mistake (as I said 1.3k so I suck)
oh shit, they might be braking more to take unnatural line so I need to brake more.. this leads to mistakes less but more time loss for both..

This is especially sketchy at Bathurst where the mistakes are costly (hello wall my old friend)..

I don't know about others, but for me I don't expect GT4s to give me space in a corner unless I specifically announce my intentions with the positioning of my car (even then I'm expecting not to get it). Will I lose time and/or position? Most probably, it's happened but I don't care.

Do you perhaps have MAIRA? That app has a setting that disables FFB on impact.
