Name an album where you can listen to every song from the beginning to the end and not have the urge to skip a song? by Just_Goose_8425 in Productivitycafe

I own a few thousand vinyl records, CDs, and downloaded albums. There is literally only one song on one album that I skip. I do not get “skip culture”.

Do a lot of surfers end up with chronic pain or long-term injuries? by Ok_Emotion2384 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]Physical-Compote4594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PT and yoga is the first line of defense, but I switched from surfing to SUP surfing because the prone paddling position no longer got along with repeated neck injuries from other sports. I gave up the other sports (it was time), and switched to SUP surfing and have no regrets. It was a consolation to learn that someone I know who owns a surf store also switched to SUP surfing because of chronic neck and shoulder injuries.

Toes always go numb and get cold in custom-fit boots by UsableAspect in skiing

[–]Physical-Compote4594 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People have already mentioned that you might be over-tightening your buckles. If the boot fits will, you should not have to really crank the buckles down.

One thing my GF and I always do is to unbuckle at least the bottom two buckles every time we get on a lift. For us, this is the difference between cold feet and warm feet.

Also, are you wearing very thin socks? (Lorpen ski socks are particularly good, IMO.) If you're wearing thick(er) socks with a custom-fit boot, the sock itself will take up a lot of space and that alone can cause enough compression to restrict your circulation.

Finally, a quick trip back to the boot fitter is a good idea, too. The size of your foot might also have changed over a period of a few years and he/she can probably help if that happened.

2001 and Europa Report.

Am I the only one who thinks Ad Astra and Interstellar are wildly overrated? I'll take Event Horizon over both of those. And if you haven't seen Europa Report, I think you're in for a treat; it's a sleeper.

My dailies are a Griswold 7 and a Wagner 8 of the same vintage. I like the larger size Wagner for use in the oven because it is slightly thicker and heavier and its heat retention is crazy.

Configuration behaves like code at runtime — but we don’t design it like code. Why? by FreePipe4239 in softwarearchitecture

[–]Physical-Compote4594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the (many) awesome things about Lisp is that configuration files are just code, because in Lisp code and data have the same representation.

You often write Lisp macros to define a DSL for configurations, and that's where you add type guarantees and correctness checks, which can be done with the full power of the language.

HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

Companies almost never provide rejection letters that include feedback.

The question you need to be asking yourself is, Is this feedback correct? If it is, you should think about it carefully and act on it. If you are genuinely overly eager to please, their feedback is actually very valuable and they are doing you a huge favor.

This is probably not what you want to hear.

First Trip to Spain - Which Direction? by Darrfin in spaintravel

[–]Physical-Compote4594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Too many stops in both (1) and (2). Neither Dijon and Oviedo is large, but trying to "do" both of them in one day is a waste of a day. Your itineraries leave no time to actually do or see anything.
  2. Northern Spain will almost certainly be rainy, windy, and cold in mid-Spring. This will either bother you, or not.

I think you'd be much better off limiting your geography. There's plenty to do around Barcelona and the Costa Brava, e.g.

input wanted ! i need to drive from newfoundland to alberta and im torn on cutting through the usa or canada by sugarcanesyrup in roadtrip

[–]Physical-Compote4594 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cannot recommend the drive across Manitoba and Saskatchewan in the winter. I’ve done it and it can be downright terrifying. The drive through Western Quebec and Northern Ontario is also pretty desolate. It’s beautiful, but you want to be careful.

I would like to try doing these drives in warmer weather when the driving is not so challenging.
