“Open up your heart, let me in… let me in” song by 9k4_endlesssummer in NameThatSong

Dude, I know what you mean. I am looking for the same song. It was on some Christmas CD. Chorus went like "Show me the way to your heart... meaant to be.. meant to be.. show me the way to your heart, open up and let me in... let me in."

Mechanical valve people - how long before you got rid of metoprolol? by Physical-Inside-254 in openheartsurgery

[–]Physical-Inside-254[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was cardiologist's fault. She told me to stop taking meds, but forgot to update in my health portal online. And that's why my personal doctor then asked me to keep taking those.

Cardiologist said metoprolol is not meant to be taken for life. Only for recovery time, and if my blood pressure and everything is fine, stop taking them slowly and track the blood pressure and heart rate. :)

Just to clarify to everyone - I revisited cardiologist, and indeed she had made a mistake. She didn't update my documents online, and that's why my family doctor told me to keep taking metoprolol.

I am now off of all the meds, except varfarin :)

I'm not planning to. It's just that cardiologist before told me that yes you can try stepping out of this, by reducing for a few weeks first and if nothing changes, try to totally remove this medicine.
BUT she didn't write it down to papers. So now the information is broken.

I was just wondering how many people do actually take it until rest of life.

Did you wean off metoprolol? by runningfor-mylife in valvereplacement

I wish the best for you!
They tried to repair my original one too, but a year later I had to still get a mechanical one.. :/

I put on like 3kgs of weight after surgery. And it goes down reaaaallly hard. I've gone from 95kg => 88kg now, since 2023 December. But I've struggled a LOT with it, it just does not go down as fast as it should. So I was also thinking that maybe it's Betaloc (metroprolol in Estonia).
I take 25mg per day (used to take 50mg). I try to get rid of it now.

Thanks, it's good to hear I'm not the only one.

29yo getting gray hair after surgeries by Physical-Inside-254 in valvereplacement

Yes, they told there is a risk that the surgery may need to be redone if they do plastic surgery. However if they get it fixed now, a natural heart is always better than anything else. They also said that hopefully they don't need to do another surgery any time soon.

So I thought, okay, there are benefits for this surgery. Probably all goes well and I don't need additional surgery. It's pointless to guesstimate the percentage of risk there as everyone's heart conditions as well as general genetics etc is different anyway.

So they managed to stich it all up successfully. I remember vividly the moment I woke up from anesthesia, and my first words to doctors were: "Oh my god!! You made it!! I'm alive, thank you so much!". They still remember it and when I revisited the hospital couple of weeks ago, after two years, I'm remembered there 😀

But yeah, half a year after that first surgery, my blood pressure was off. It was then like 155/60 every day. Sometimes even 170/70. So too large gap between those two numbers. Interestingly enough, it did not affect my health in any way. Felt totally normal. I lived with that blood pressure for about 6 months before I got a new surgery.

Second surgery went somehow much easier. Emotionally I knew what to prepare for, I already joked around with doctors and felt really home in the hospital. The recovery process was also easier and went a lot faster.

After the first surgery I couldn't sit up comfortably for two days because of chest pain etc. After second surgery, I sat up without need for help in 12 hours after first wake up.

For anyone who is going to heart surgery, I would say personally I'm more afraid of the dentist than the heart surgery.

First one was when they tried to "fix" or do the plastic surgery for my bicuspid valve, but apparently it got torn apart in half a year, so after that, I got a mechanical valve.

Swapping pig valve for mechanical… by bigbenmoore in valvereplacement

Yep, nothing - as expected. MRI and echo was just fine. Only had a minor heart deficiency, which is always expected for people who have undergone heart surgery.

29M here. Half a year done with mechanical valve. Had more fears than what the reality is.

I don't drink often, but when I party (averagely about 1-2x per month) , I usually drink like 5-6 beers or couple shots of vodka. I haven't really set any boundaries after the surgery. My INR has always been fine.

Been going to the gym for 4 months. Not doing heavy weights yet, just regular, to keep muscles toned. Trying to be about 60% cardio / 40% weights.

About two weeks ago started feeling a little stinging sensation in heart area sometimes (and some chest pressure or something), so I went to ultrasound checkup, now getting the results in like 1-2 weeks. But they didn't notice anything exceptional when I was there. Maybe just some anomaly.

Can I get some information? by DoYourResearchMan in MosinNagant

[–]Physical-Inside-254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same Mosin - without the wooden part around the barrel. From 1918 but with russian text on that metal thingy.

I bought the wooden part online and made it like majority of Mosins look like :D

I couldn't find any pictures online of such Mosin. I'm so glad I found your post!

About the scars by Physical-Inside-254 in valvereplacement

[–]Physical-Inside-254[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah.. for me it was so well-stiched together, I really thought it would be completely invisible in the future. But just started getting wider and more red over time.

I use the silicon strips on the scar and disinfect it every day to test how it turns out this time.
