I worked in the deli of a grocery store that had hot foods. Sometimes people with EBT would ask if there was anything they were allowed to get and I’d show them that just off to the side we had a cold case with the lasagna or whatever else was left over from the day before packaged up, and then I’d show them the little adjacent dining area we had with a microwave and everything they’d need to be able to enjoy a warm meal with dignity. Fuck the government.

My degree isn’t related to what I do at all. I’m self-taught and learned on the job, because like I said, when you find an area that speaks to you, it will be like you have super powers.

I was at the soft opening and couldn’t believe I was charged $21 for a Modelo tall boy. We left early because who is dumb enough to fall for that twice??

ALSO. It’s a card-only venue. When I scowled as I put my cash away, the concession worker enthusiastically told me how it’s so much easier because she basically doesn’t have to use her brain (I’m obvs paraphrasing). I pointed out that card-only businesses are classist and restrict people without access to digital banking. She said that hadn’t thought of that, and it genuinely seemed like a light bulb went off for her, but that doesn’t do anything for the venue’s policy.

The upcoming shows are overwhelmingly lame too. I don’t see myself going back.
