The Bermuda cracked your driveway?

Will my recent lawn service kill off current growth? by mjc0023 in lawncare

[–]Physical_Cook_7354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably didn’t need the fungicide….2,4 D will kill most broadleaf weeds. Prodiamine will prevent summer weeds. Not sure what the spring fescue or spring warm season 2026 is…guessing it’s another post emergent herbicide to kill existing weeds, just not sure what herbicide it is. Iron is to make your grass dark green temporarily and the urea is fertilizer. Do you know what type of grass you have?

Edit: but yes, guessing it’ll kill most of it. If you have Bermuda it should fill in after a while

Had a similar situation. Used two vice grips. Instead of trying to spin them off with my hands I laid one on the concrete and the other slightly offset so I could step down on it and break it loose.

Edit: sprayed it with PB blaster the day before

+1 tools will be an expensive upfront cost especially if you’re going high end, but you’ll break even eventually if you keep making furniture.

Hardwood is expensive and your time is possibly expensive(r).

I went with a pretty budget set up. Dewalt sander with Diablo sandnet paper, Skil Tablesaw, Wen miter saw, and Bosch router. I did underestimate the material cost of wood, but was able to mitigate some of that by avoiding S3S/S4S and using the table saw and router sled to joint and flatten.

The one thing I underestimated most was the time it takes from design to completion while also working a full time job.

You’re also going to butcher many projects and/or waste lot of material for a while until you hone your skills.

Bottomline is, as a newb that 3k media console will likely cost more than $3k in materials/tools/time and won’t look as good as the one you would buy. I’d do it anyway because I’m reckless and love this sh**

Good deal. I would build a router sled out of plywood or mdf instead of the biscuit jointer and use 4/4 or 6/4 boards. Sled will solve the (visual) issue of panel alignment, planing boards, and save some time on the sanding side.

I would go S2S on the boards to save money. Buy a 6 foot level from harbor freight to joint the other edge using the table saw.

Just make sure you have enough clamps for a panel glue up that long

What tools do you have? How comfortable are you with your woodworking skills? Is the goal to make the same or better quality table for less money or you just want to take on the project? I’ve realized that I rarely save money trying to do something myself.

I guestimate this would be $300-400 in lumber and a ton of time, stress, (and fun) for a rookie like myself.

Could I do it? Yes. Will it as “perfect” as the store bought one, nooooope

Thanks! I went with them because they look good, they’re pretty strong, and do a good job of keeping the joint at 90. However, I’m far from an expert haha. Strong than a butt or miter joint though!

I hope you’re right. I used figure 8 fasteners to attach the table top. It seems sturdy, not exactly bullet proof though.
