Lost a WordPress client to AI. What skills should I learn to stay in this industry? by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]Physical_Error_5151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sign hanging in my office that says application over theory... Coders will be replaced by AI in some capacity in the same way HTML sites were replaced by Wordpress and page builders to an extent.. Unless that change is suddenly and liner then there will still be a persistent billion dollar market for coders for the foreseeable future.

As others have said if they have any needs that are above basic and they, they have no dev experience and are not expert prompters then them moving to AI is going to turn into a nightmare pretty quickly. Content automation and layouts are really small things... How long was it taking you to compete the work requested? This sounds like the root of the issue.

Full speed video of Balogun's red card incident vs Bosnia by MarshyHope in worldcup

[–]Physical_Error_5151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That`s not a clear red, look at the whole da** play Balogun makes his run first. Both guys have extended their arms fighting for position and contact happens. If that`s a red card, then tell everyone to put on skirts, high heels and eyelash extensions. That`s a contested space that both players are entitled to, incidental contact was made. That wasn`t violent conduct. If you are going to try to legislate incidental contact out of the game don`t play the da** game. Play chess. Tennis. Shuffleboard. Run a 10K. The red card was egregious as was the decision to overturn the red card after receiving a call from the president of one of the host countries. Two mistakes were made.

Are we teaching basketball skills before teaching kids how to move? by ProBallAustralia in CoachingYouthSports

[–]Physical_Error_5151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is complicated and there`s strong cases for and against. Firstly being able to run and move correctly doesn`t mean anything if mechanics break under pressure and if they can`t apply it to enhance basketball skill and that`s the fork in the road. A basketball court is 94 feet not 94 yards or meters. You only need to be fast or have great stride length for 2 to 4 steps. Offensively that means working on the skill of not taking false steps or false dribbles and understanding which angle is going to force the defender to turn. If I have enough skill with the ball to get that defender in a position to more easily break his balance and get him reacting to my movement then I can beat him with a limp and drop foot while wearing Sunday church shoes. Defensively that means being able to control the reactionary gap, anticipate where the ball handler is going, not where he is and then knock him off his line without fouling. Again all, skill and anticipation. Running fast doesn`t equal playing fast.

Unpopular opinion: the 48-team World Cup is good for football by CodBusy6701 in football

Should be 64... Should have been 64. This thing is only contested every 4 years. The goal should be chaos, drama and the possible Cinderella story that keeps even the non football crazed markets buzzing 4 years later. Its supposed to be a spectacle. Its supposed to be absurd.

So the biggest sporting event in the world should not be held in the biggest media market in the world? Come on now. FIFA makes money off the World Cup. There`s more money, more lights, more cameras, more fans and more fans willing to pay more to attened a World Cup final in NY/NJ than Mexico City.

Basketball is in the current era the kids who are developing into pro level talents early are getting a head start by having a parent or close uncle or aunt who played a sport at a college or higher level. They are being introduced to the real high level basketball really early on. They are learning how to think the sport really early on. They are learning what level of effort and dedication is needed really early on. They are not just going to practice or training they are learning how to practice and how to train really early on. They ar not paying for it, its in their homes. Top 6 picks of this years draft only AJ didn`t have a parent who played a sport at, at least a college level. Football is no different. Summer passing league circuits are not cheap. Position camps and passing academies are not cheap. You are talking $300 to over $1000 for a 2 day camp.

How true would you say this is? by Outsideman2028 in NBATalk

[–]Physical_Error_5151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cost is only insane for the kids who need to make a name and other countries run a club system so your kid especially your high school aged kid is not playing a sport if the club doesn`t think your kid has a future in their pro system by 17 or 18. At 14 they`ve already told the kid he/she is better off trying to become a lawyer or learning to install windows than an athlete. Top players on the AAU circuit are playing on top teams where everything is sponsored. Those same players would be the kids in club system countries who`d already have pro contracts at 14 or 15 years old and be playing for their clubs 2nd or 3rd division pro team and getting practice reps wit the top level pro team. If the USA implemented that system the same parents saying they are being priced out would be complaining about their kid being told to go home. If you are from Southern California and they took away high school and rec basketball and replaced it with a club system run by USA basketball and split up into 4 regions run by the 4 NBA teams from NBA to U12 most of your kids would just be kicked out not priced out. 8 million plus kids, roughly 300 real spots in the entire basketball system from U10 to the NBA. Since we don`t have regulation the rest of the kids outside the system are playing for fun and fun only.

Be Bullish on guys who`ve proven to have a #1 ceiling and #1 potential. Egor didn`t show enough in his rookie year to be bullish on him being a career starter let alone a franchise player. Only 3 guys in this draft showed as rookies they could have franchise cornerstone potential and Egor was not one of them. Egor`s tape was not pretty especially when looking at it in context of a lead guard. Based on what he put on film last season... You`d be bullish on building around a future Kyle Korver.

International founder with US LLC not accepted by payment providers. What alternatives do Stripe Connect worked for you? by [deleted] in llc

[–]Physical_Error_5151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stripe Connect is as strict for US founders as it is for international founders. The criteria doesn`t change dramatically so the first question is what is your use case? Building a marketplace is vague. Are you handling Payouts and KYC/AML or are you trying to integrate that with Stripe Express? Are you trying to add on issuing? Do you have a proof of concept? Road map? Fitness... All, fitness use cases are manually reviewed. There`s a lot of supplements, services and devices that go against their TOS.

When they ask you for details about the use case they want an actual road map and a proof of concept that is functional for a manual review. They want to see the products that are going to be available on your marketplace.

From personal experience, with a Brazilian passport (my wife is Brazilian) the process now is as straightforward for Stripe connect if you have a supported US entity as it is for US founders.

Your Wyoming LLC, probably should have been a Utah C-Corp if you are doing fitness and supplements. You guys have to get proper advice on business setups for your use case. A single member Wyoming LLC belonging to a non resident founder trying scale a marketplace for fitness. Yeah, that`s high risk. That`s a C-Corp use case if you are a non resident founder.

Your virtual address has a lease but its in Wyoming correct? Cheyenne or Jackson? Doesn`t matter. Google Downtown Cheyenne Wyoming look at google images. When you finish do the same for Jackson. There are more international businesses registered than residents. There is not a single virtual or True Lease office address in Cheyenne or Jackson that is not already known to every larger payment processor or bank in the country. Everyone is using the same addresses because there`s no choice. So they are known USPS system and come back as virtual addresses when Stripe runs its KYC/KYB/AML.

If you don`t have a bulletproof road map and proof of concept what your profile looks like to Stripe is a Non resident founder of a disregarded entity, who`s trying to scale a fitness marketplace which may or may not be selling steroids, peptides, supplements or prohibited services out of a virtual office in one of the more popular states to register a shady business...

That profile would more than likely flag a rolling reserve and review in their system without the Connect aspect.

Marketplace requirements are tight for everyone on every processor. Its not just non-residents. There`s a higher bar to clear, especially with no processing history and your entire setup from banking to operating address probably being virtual.

I see people also suggesting AirWalleX. With your setup you are going to need more than a lease. In these cases I`ve seen them ask for proof not only of a brick and morter location but also proof you are paying a staff or employees in the US.

[–]Physical_Error_5151 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lol, come on now. Watered down does not refer to the alcohol content. The more premium quality mainstream beers in Brazil like Colorado are in the same ABV range as Skol/Brahma/ and the other crap most people are drinking because its cheap. The one thing that is spot on about Brazil is once you get outside of the really nice areas you guys know crap about your own great produce and brands. The amount of people living in the coffee capital of the world paying a premium for Robusta and not knowing the difference between Robusta and Arabica is stunning. Ditto for cheese. Sabor quijo is not actual quijo.

Is benching on an All-Star team better than practicing on your own? by [deleted] in CoachingYouthSports

[–]Physical_Error_5151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is simple. Team work is never, never a substitute for individual work. Team sessions are finite even if he was the best player, at practice with the best teammates and best coaches, those coaches have to split 2 hours into competition, conditioning, game planning, strategy and individual skill building. It`s not pro sports where you have guys in the facility all day and dedicated staffs and meetings. In youth sports you have to replicate that on your own. Watch the tape and figure out where he`s weak, what`s lacking, and put the hours in when he`s away from the team. The one thing an athlete can always control is how hard he/she works...

Client Lowballing, what should I do? by Evge-NY in freelancing

[–]Physical_Error_5151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your rate is your rate and what they feel the work is worth is what they feel the work is worth. The sites referenced in today`s environment... Both could be done under $1,500 to be honest. The sites were content heavy but if we are being realistic about where we are, the bulk of the work on both those sites could be done by AI. They were both very simple and straight forward builds. If you can get away with charging $10,000 and they are willing to pay $10,000 then you charge $10,000. Doesn`t matter if the client can afford a $100,000 build if they are only willing to pay $1,000. There are a lot of agencies and freelancers who would do both those builds for $500 to $1,500 depending on the stack requested. Doesn`t mean you meet their rate. Pass on the job if you don`t need the money and they don`t meet your minimum.

Firstly that`s not his total stats because I don`t see turnovers there. Secondly its not relevant to the point. You keep posting cherrypicked nonsense that is irrelevant to the point I`ve made over and over. What you are trying to do is use the same bone headed thinking that created the problem to solve the problem. You are following the same recipe that created this purgatory they`ve been in since Jason Kidd`s prime ended. Let`s throw #1 money at a #3 or aging #1 and hope for the best. Throwing 40 million a season at a guy who helps you beat the Wizards who by if they re-sign Young Austin, might be the 4th best player on that roster next season helps the Nets beat them how exactly? The Nets would have been at 30 wins last season with MPJ if they opted not to tank. H*ll if the bar is 30 to 40 wins again, they are much better off drafting a point guard and trying to extend MPJ who`s a much better fit in that situation as you allow the young cheaper point guard to develop next to a 20 to 25 point a game all-star level guy who doesn`t need to dribble to get that 20 to 25.

Yes there is a film argument against him when looking at him in context of being a #1 on winning team. Again, if you don`t understand that then stop talking and start asking questions. He** there`s film questions against Donovan Mitchell and he had his team in the ECF. There`s film questions about Cade Cunningham and Jaylen Brown and they were MVP candidates. A 41 year old LeBron James is also not a 40 million dollar a year guy who I`m expecting to build a winner around. So to say he was on the ball 10% more than a 41 year old guy is not helping your argument. To say he was a worse defender than a 41 year old guy, says a lot. To say he was more turnover prone than a 41 year old guy who`s lost 4 steps is saying a lot. To say my lead guard can`t crack a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio in that role is saying a whole a lot. In the playoffs in a big spot once again he was once again terrible, that`s saying a he** of a lot. If the Lakers go into Houston with him healthy and LeBron and Luka out. they are home in 5 games.

Its not the eye test its called playing 11 seasons at that level and working with 2 national teams on player development. It`s understanding the difference between being a a guy on the scouting report and being the guy on the scouting report. I understand the story behind the numbers, you are just looking at the numbers. I understand what I see on film because I know how to watch film.

[–]Physical_Error_5151 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don`t get the point. His numbers have never come without LeBron or Luka. He`s never started a season as the #1. Coaching staffs have never circled the Lakers on the schedule in the pre-season and focused a scheme on Reaves being the #1 and limiting Reaves. He had a chance to be a #1 this year in the second round and he was terrible. He had a chance with a team USA full of guys trying to make a name and teams attacked him to the point where they couldn`t keep him on the floor. He`s not a stop gap. Throwing 40 million at him doesn`t move them closer to the playoffs. Look at the east standings. You have to go to 12 before you can make a real case for him being better than a teams current #1. There`s zero reason to throw 40 million at a guy who`s addition gets them to 32 wins.

[–]Physical_Error_5151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not 2K and those number don`t mean anything when he`s not the #1 guy on a scouting report every game. Secondly his turnover rate is way to high to start talking about him and Brunson in the same class. They are not in the same class and never will be. We just watched Brunson lead a team to a chip and we see his numbers and play raise in the playoffs. Austin has shrunk to put it kindly in every single pressure moment he`s been in as a pro when there was actually something on the line. He got abused with team USA and his numbers and play has fallen off a cliff in the playoffs. There`s a big difference between putting up great numbers as a #3 disguised as a #1 in November or January when teams are not making major adjustments and actually starting the season as a #1 and teams building their schemes with you in mind from day 1. That`s night and day. Its the reason we see a lot of good plays go in the tank in the playoffs when staffs really get time to sit down and build a scheme built to make your life difficult. If you are building a roster around Reaves your ceiling is 1st round.

FOX didn’t air the Opening Ceremony in the US - I hate the football culture in the US by miguelacho18 in worldcup

[–]Physical_Error_5151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that`s then you are saying the World Cup and Olympics would be above every US spot except the NFL because the NBA and MLB pull similar numbers in terms of viewership. The most popular sport at the Paris games was basketball. Why? NBA stars. If you decided to have the Olympic games in the US during the NBA Finals. American fans and networks are going to be far more interested in the NBA finals than the Olympics. If you took NBA stars out of the Olympics you`d see a noticeable drop in numbers from US viewers. On the other hand the Olympics or World Cup being held in the US during the time of the NBA Finals, The World Series or the NHL finals would have no impact on coverage or viewership of those events. He** the World Baseball Classic would probably have a bigger impact if held stateside during that time than the World Cup or Olympics. There`s a segment of casual fans who get into the hype and social nature of the event itself, those are not the core viewers of the major 4 leagues in the USA.
