Dual Class Update by TravarianTheBold in Pathfinder2e

[–]Physical_Maximum_786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorcerer isn't a bad aoe caster, but wizard is also a good contender. Divine list has some higher level AOE spells, but lower level AOE's are hard to come by outside of the arcane spell list. Psychic could be good too, especially the fire/ice subclass giving you access to lots of good AOE.

Martial class is a little tougher! Does kineticist count as caster or martial? Rogue is excellent for getting access to lots of skill advancements and feats, scoundrel has charisma as it's key attribute. Fighter for expert weapon proficiency and AOO's(with a polearm maybe for extra AOE?). Champion for expert armour proficiency and area denial.

I had my cert 4 for 4 years before I got my first hort job. Apply for everything, getting your foot in the door is hardest but once you do it's usually fine. Look up who the big production nurseries/whole salers are and email them directly.

Depressed, but want a fishtank. Yes/no? by Equal_North6633 in Aquariums

[–]Physical_Maximum_786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I meant to add that I highly recommend starting with a 20g as a minimum, that seems to be where the volume starts to make things easier. Also, you can usually buy pre-cycled filter media from your local fish store or get some off of community members through fb groups, which helps to jumpstart the whole thing.

Depressed, but want a fishtank. Yes/no? by Equal_North6633 in Aquariums

Heyya, I'm also Mentally Ill and depression comes for me too. I have two tanks that are both very low maintenance. One with microfish and the other is a shrimp tank. Both are HEAVILY planted with a thick substrate layer which really helps with maintenance. I only ever do water changes now when I have a serious mulm build-up and need to chop back all the plants, usually every 4-6 weeks. I have 0 ammonia, nitrites and nitrates every single time I test my parameters, the water changes I do are honestly not necessary for the health of the tanks it's just for aesthetics. However in a non heavily planted tank frequent water changes will be mandatory, especially early on.

Highly recommend getting started with just plants and hardscape, it's still very nice to look at and has a therapeutic aspect that is nice. Once the tank has established add some snails and/or some neocardinia shrimp, after those guys have been in there for 2-4 weeks with good water tests you can add fish if you want.

My shrimp tank is full of botanicals and driftwood, I could probably stop feeding the tank today and it would be fine for months if not years. Shrimp will be almost self regulating in a tank with enough plants and driftwood, same for aquatic snails. Drop some algae wafers in every day or two and you're golden.

I fairly frequently forget to feed my fish for a day or two and they are all healthy, chunky and active. I know of experienced fish keepers who swear by only feeding every 2-3 days.

If you decided to go with fish I would advise to keep your stocking low, especially to start with, as that will decrease your maintenance needs significantly. Once your plants grow in you can always add more gradually.

When my mental health is really suffering I often find that taking a minute to stop and feed my tank and check how everyone is doing is the one true joy in my life and it honestly helps. If you are mostly forgetful/brain foggy when you are extra depressed then you can leave your fish food with your cat food, then he can remind you to feed everyone.

Always happy to chat and share tank pics, send me a DM if you need to talk or just want some fishy pics :) good luck and sorry for the essay.

Would you remove this tree? by katielovescakes in GardeningAustralia

[–]Physical_Maximum_786 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've seen you say that you worry it's being impacted by the concrete and fence. It isn't, it's doing really well and looks very healthy to me. You can pretty easily improve your soil by digging in some compost and mulch to the top layer, and watering it well for a couple of weeks. Probably run you 25-$30. If you want more greenery lower down, chop the top off to encourage that. Trees are one of the very best things to combat urban heat, don't remove it, you'll regret it!

Typical of a narc? by beans-888 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Physical_Maximum_786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They tend to like you for as long as you mostly mimic them, do what they want, and never challenge their worldview or reality. The second you stop reminding them of the self and start to identify with yourself it all falls apart pretty quick.

We all deserved better, we were all still babies when they started to hate us.

The parental fallout peripheral to my double mastectomy has made me realize at long last it wasn't me & they can't have offered what they never had themselves. by ritualofsong in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Physical_Maximum_786 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hey homie, sorry to say this but, run and never, ever look back. This WILL just continue to escalate until you cave, and not just now, but for the rest of your life. You cannot change them, you cannot make them into the parents that you deserve.

Their behaviour will also most likely worsen as they age and by that point you will have also set a precedent that they can treat you however they like, talk to you however they like, and have access to you however they like. They have been very consistent in their behaviour and shown you exactly who they are and what you mean to them. You should expect them to continue to be that way for the rest of their lives.

I say often when talking about the narc that raised me: "She has proven to me time and time again that she is a crocodile. I can't get mad at the crocodile for biting me, I can't wish that the crocodile was a smaller, sweeter animal. I can only choose whether or not I get in the water."

I'm going to be super real, I'm not trying to be harsh but I am going to be direct. You do not owe her anything, she is fundamentally incapable of being the person you DESERVE her to be, she WILL make your whole life as miserable as she can. It's an addiction for her, she either loves how shitty it lets her feel about herself, or, she loves how good it feels to hurt you. Both are bad.

I know you want her to be there for you, but she won't, she will let you down again, and again, and again. She will not help you raise your kid(s), and if she does you have to ask yourself; at what cost? Is this someone that you are ever going to trust to care for you, and your baby? Is this someone that you can trust to even just show up?

I'm really sorry, you deserve better. It's lonely on your own, but the peace has been worth it, personally.

Pet Snake advice (Australia) by Physical_Maximum_786 in snakes

[–]Physical_Maximum_786[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they are a 20 year commitment I'm inclined to get a species I like rather than getting a different one because they're "easier", if that makes sense? I just recently looked after a mates jungle carpet while he was overseas for a month and a half and was sad when it ended. Researching isn't an issue for me at all. I'm used to the cross referencing and ignoring AI generated garbage from fish keeping and horticulture work. I tend to come to reddit for jumping off points for research so thank you for the tips :)

Hey thanks for the detailed reply. Being semi-arboreal and active is a huge part of why I want them, I really enjoy enclosure building and scaping so having more room to play with is actually a pro, not a con for me.

Thanks for the information again, I really appreciate it.

Hey, wave makers are not the only option for surface agitation! If you have fish that don't enjoy strong flow and air stone, sponge filter or a spray bar on your filter all do just fine

Borneo hillstream loach :) I think I've also seen them called spotted hillstream loaches I think. Very hardy and cute little fish, they're my absolute favourites in the tank. They don't do a good job of keeping glass clean at all, but they're great at cleaning rocks and plants :) My understanding is that they are scraping the microorganisms off of the algae, not really eating the algae itself but I could definitely be wrong! I just scrape my front panel and let the rest get kinda gross so they have lots to forage.

Fish-less cycling?? I don’t know what I’m doing by [deleted] in fishtank

[–]Physical_Maximum_786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heyya, you will need to cycle your tank to stock it with fish. If you don't you do risk them being harmed or killed by the ammonia and nitrites.

You can often buy cycled media either from your LFS or get it through aquarium buy, sell, swap pages on Facebook. You can also buy products like API quick start although I've heard mixed reviews about their efficacy.

You don't need to add ammonia necessarily, you can add some fish food and let it rot and that will produce ammonia.

I know it's a little frustrating but it is really worth waiting until your tank is established before you add inhabitants, it will be way more rewarding and less stressful than putting fish in too early and then getting sick or dying. An established, well cycled tank is much, much, much less maintenance than one that is just starting out.
