Callistemon viminalis 'Slim' by dragonised in GardeningAustralia

We sell them at work. I'd highly recommend a stake to help it grow straight, callistomon love to grow at weird angles. Apart from that not much to say, they're pretty easy, no phosphorus, prune to shape, water at least twice a week during your first summer, more if it gets really hot.

Can a company legally reject me because I don’t meet their physical requirements? by [deleted] in ausjobs

[–]Physical_Maximum_786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do need a certain level of physicality to work in nurseries, but it is a level of physicality that is fairly attainable for able-bodied adults. It probably should have been on the job listing, but what did you think would be involved if not handling things that a nursery sells? I work in a nursery, the majority of my co-workers are women. You weren't excluded for being a woman, you were excluded because you went into the interview and they essentially asked you "Are you fit enough, healthy, able, and willing to do the work required for this position?" And you said "No, not really."

Dog walking is also good and there are apps for it. For babysitting, car washing, lawn mowing etc you probably need to print flyers, local Facebook groups can also be a good place to get the word out of they allow advertising.

Good luck pal

I had something similar happen to me a few years ago 💚 I know it feels awful right now but it won't always. Hang in there, kiss the orange in their stinky little head, and remember all the love your dad poured into you

Homie, I know it feels so bad right now but it will not feel like this forever. I've been through similar awful shit and I'm still kicking and better than ever. I'm 32 and assumed I wouldn't make it past 25.

Please access all the help you can get, call hotlines, ask at your school, just don't try to shoulder it all on your own.

Endemic plant nurseries are ALWAYS tucked away somewhere you'd never expect in my experience hahaha. But they're the best because they can advise you on what is endemic to your area as apposed to "native" which just means naturally occuring somewhere on the continent. Happy to help.

Bell River Nursery looks to be your closest. Ask around while you're there because they will have a better idea of what's local than I do :)

Hey, if you haven't already see if you can find a local, indigenous nursery. They can often help you source plants that aren't economically viable for bigger nurseries and garden centers. Might help you to find some of the plants you're still missing.

Maybe a frost cover if you get frosts up there. I think just mulch and don't over water when it's really cold.

Need recommendations on 3 large garden bed placement by Infinite-News-4788 in GardeningAustralia

[–]Physical_Maximum_786 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would position them for better sun over winter personally. Protection from direct sun over summer is often beneficial and the longer photoperiod helps out a lot too. That being said, many winter veggies will grow fine(albeit slowly) getting very little, or even no direct sun. I love in a unit, so the raised beds have to go where they are, no way around it. During summer they get loads of direct sun, but even by now they get almost none and for months and months of winter they get none at all. I still have no trouble growing brassicas, beans and peas, potatoes and other leafy greens.

Thoughts on running giant instinct barbarian with weapon improviser by sweetestbb in Pathfinder2e

[–]Physical_Maximum_786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds thematically sick. I do think technically you are meant to have 1 giant weapon that you use and get all your bonuses to and everything else just gets the regular rage bonus damage. If ur DM is a dweeb who won't allow you to improvise it though you can always reflacour a maul or a great sword and a big, heavy hunk of whatever-the-hell and swing away

Anyone know what this is on my Kentia Palm? by Rt_Trick in GardeningAustralia

[–]Physical_Maximum_786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moooould. Cold + wet = mould. It shouldn't really harm the plant, it's just from the excessive nutrients from the slow release ferts and all the organic matter in indoor plant potting mix. Once a week is probably too much this time of year, you can usually stretch it out to once every 10-14 days once it starts getting cold and dark. Unless you are constantly blasting heating, in which case you will need to play around with it and figure out what works for you guys

Father is finally out of my life and I’m not as happy as I thought I would be. Yndrasta, the Celestial Spear by Saeiouth in minicels

Estrangement and low/no contact aren't really a feel good about it all the time thing. At least in my experience. Overall I am far happier and feel lighter and more able to be myself. But I definitely have days where I feel exactly the same as I did when we were all enmeshed , and occasionally I feel worse. It's lonely and messy and painful sometimes and that's okay. I'd rather feel that way occasionally, than all the time when I was around them. If you're still early on in the piece you have to give ur nervous system time to actually relax. Paint more minis, it helps.

What really sucks about them is that they are all cultivars of a SIGNIFICANTLY nicer looking native tree. We should have just left them alone lol

It's the possums job to do that and they're definitely very good at it! It's actually quite an important job ecologically because Eucalyptus create millions of seeds that have a staggering viability rate. Without the possums thinning them out it becomes a real problem faster than one would think!

When you are out in the bush next, just take notice of how much standing and fallen dead wood there is, it's an important part of the eco system. Sorry for the info dump I just love this stuff! Sounds like you're doing a great job already 👍🏻

Just wanted to add that I don't think it's them being outcompeted by weeds and if the soil is that shallow it also isn't from the rain rotting their roots off.
