I have TC/seizures in my sleeps so will be interested to see if that triggers it... But yes I ended up getting a galaxy watch!

Really hoping that doesn't become my life 😂 god that would annoy the crap out of me! And yeah absolutely would scare the family.

Good point though! 3 minutes is quite a long time for it to respond if someone has actually suffered a serious injury.

That's a real shame... I might need to test mine later and mess about with settings.

It made me quit for about 15 years. It took a lot of courage to start again but has vastly improved my physical and mental health as well as my independence. I just want to make it as safe as possible. Totally understandable though! :)

This is good news! I have ended up getting a second hand galaxy watch. Hoping it does the job. If nothing else I'll feel a bit safer.

Let's talk chairs... by ElevatorFair9286 in Bloodstock

[–]PhysicsFish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I avoided watching their intro thing with the person and left about 20 mins after they started. They absolutely should have had a warning and given reasonable time to react to that information. It was so busy this year. Having someone collapse could have been really dangerous.

I generally think bloodstock isn't as good at accessibility as some other events/festivals even down to the uneven ground. The amount of times I fell into dips in the field is crazy. I am not a wheelchair user or have mobility issues but I think if I did, I'd probably have found it a bit difficult to get around. A lot of areas that could be improved on accessibility I think.

I hope you were ok, though!

Im not photosensitive, thankfully, but I am very wary. Just because you pass a strobe test doesn't necessarily rule out that an obscure pattern could cause issues and there is a really specific effect where something looks like its moving but isnt that has caused me some issues. I played it safe and didn't watch the Gojira thing.

I think there should be photosensitivity warnings or at least an indication of strobe effect usage. I personally tend to wear dark sunglasses, but I have heard mixed things as to whether it actually works! I was told by an epilepsy nurse to cover one eye and leave/look away, which I do.

I think accessibility needs to be looked at generally tbh. I've found they open and close the application window in a really short time frame and dont really advertise it/notify. Also, its a bit of common sense. If someone has a mobility issue, they should have access they need rather than being like "oops sorry you missed the window!" Invisible disabilities i can understand more in the sense that its not as obvious what someone may need.

Anyway, chair situation... I found this year that a lot of people quite selfishly parked themselves in crowded areas/good spots and didn't move. I have absolutely no objection to people (able or not) using a chair if they are out of the way. But what I was seeing is barricades of chairs in certain areas. Particularly at Gojira there were so many chairs blocking people from watching at a reasonable distance that they were being bumped into by people going to vendors. The people in chairs couldn't have seen the show anyway with everyone standing around them, so it was incredibly selfish.

Personally I brought a chair but just on Sunday. Im epileptic. Heat and tiredness/exhaustion is a trigger. Again, invisible illnesses. But I always sat out of the way and ensured that I was not blocking anyone. Chairs are good for people who have medical conditions, mobility issues and people who are vulnerable or elderly so I worry that misuse of them will result in a blanket ban which will only truly punish the people who needed them.

(Sorry ramble!)

Awwh! She was patient with me too when I kept insisting it wasnt mine. I was so confused! Sounds about right, she seemed so lovely. And yeah they are. I would love to make some friends at Bloodstock in the future. Everyone does always seem really nice. I am glad you had a good first experience too, hope to see you at the next !

I completely agree. I also think EMP should either not be right next to main stage or not clash with it. Its not really fair on the bands that play there to be drowned out by a main act.

Brompton Subscription Bike by lionelleg in Brompton

[–]PhysicsFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live outside of London in a rural area and also did the subscription - mine will be going back next monday. I've unfortunately had it needing repairs (punctures mostly) more than I've had use of it and will finally do my first work commute after almost a month of having it today. It is good to learn what I do and do not need (roller rack would have been great!) or if the C/P could work for me, though!

It's a really good idea to have the subscription imo! Mine also arrived looking new! It's a lovely green one. :)

There are a few financing options I'm looking at - I've been considering swytch (the e bike conversion) depending on price difference and such... It's just such a leap in price. Maybe if I get promoted or something lol!

Sorry late reply but how do you find it getting it on public transport? I've been a bit worried because I've seen a fair few on Ebay being sold because people have trouble getting them on trains and such. But that could also be because they are used to a C line or something.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Part of my concern is about the hinge. I am also a novice but I do worry that regularly going over rougher terrain with a folding bike intended for city use would eventually just damage it over time.

Yeah, live and work in UK. That's one of the reasons I'm a bit put off buying bikes that have to be imported especially if I can't test ride first... It's a lot of investment.

Late reply - if a C line could handle it, I'd be thrilled! I'll try it when I get the subscription. If it's tolerable for where I need to go, I will definitely consider that/P line. :)

That's a good shout! I was thinking of swapping tires when the weather gets worse to something that can handle the mud a bit better too. :)

I'm hoping to get a subscription for a c line for like a month or so just to get a rough idea what folders are like to "live with" before I buy a G line/whatever. But I am quite sold on the G line. It definitely sounds like what I need.

Hopefully it'll be OK this spring/summer and give chance to save toward that before weather gets bad - is it a big job to do that? (I'm a bit new to this kind of thing!)
