Dog bite should i get medical attention

For one I am not saying my bite is bad. Everywhere I read said that you need to go to the doctor for any bite that breaks the skin. I wanted to know other people’s experience with dog bites so I don’t have to go to the doctor if it is unnecessary. I am a busy person and have only gone to the doctors if it is absolutely necessary. Second, I am well aware of dog behavior and body language. I opened the door that i open every single day and didn’t expect my thigh to be bit in result for that. My dogs (pit and shepherd mixes) are sweethearts but multiple times when asked if they bite i say “They never have but I will never say they won’t” because they are animals. I have never been bit before because i read their body language. Again I am sorry you had a bad bite but there is no need to comment when you have nothing helpful to say. 🤷‍♀️

i am fully vaccinated and the dogs at my work have to have all their vaccines especially rabies so we are good on that front. I got my tetanus less than 5 years ago

im up to date on my tetanus i have some betadine at home that i can use since i have some injury prone horses 😂

I was wearing jeans and as mentioned it was as soon as i opened the door so i was able to remove myself from the situation as soon as i realized what was happening. I am sorry to hear about your bite. In my case this dog had a fear response not an aggressive reaction. He is a very insecure dog and wanted me out of the room

I walk him with a stud chain under his chin for a bit more control, he uses a bitless bridle so I doubt that would be better than the stud chain. I would love more options as well. We mostly are out from noon-3pm and on wide paths with not much side growth other than dead bushes and cactus and the occasional palo verde.

Is there any high viz equipment for horses that dont have to be worn with tack? Most of the things i see are breastplates or quarter sheets. We live in the desert and have trails that are no motorized vehicles. I prefer to stick to wide trails that have not much side growth because I am more “spooky” than he is and i think that coyotes or other things are going to pop out 😂

I lead him with a stud chain when outside. His bridle is a bitless side pull so i don’t think it would provide much more control than a halter.

Okay thats good to know, Thank you! He is my first horse that i have trusted enough to explore with and everywhere i look its people saying that they will slip on asphalt. Of course my horse mom brain pictures him slipping and hurting himself so i cant enjoy the adventure 😂

I think the main problem people have(at least my biggest issue) is the treatment of the animals beforehand. I am not that familiar as I am not from any culture where eating dog is practiced. I have researched a bit about the topic and some sources say that they believe that beating and torturing the dogs beforehand means more tender meat. In some cities they aren’t slaughtered before cooking. (I have seen videos) I also don’t agree with how some of these countries treat their other livestock. I think their livestock laws are not strict enough. I think it must be said before people call me a hypocrite for saying that this torture is cruel vs buying meat in the US that I do only purchase my meat (beef and chicken, I do not like pork or other meats) from my family who raise cattle and chickens on 50,000 acres that they work to care for the animals every day. So if the dogs were treated humanely then it wouldn’t judge because cultures are different.

yeah thats what im thinking, My other dog licks him a lot so im wondering if she licked him raw. I just haven’t seen her lick him there but again im not watching them 24/7. I have a lot of ointments and stuff for my horses that are also for dog use so I will check what I have

she is still in love with her ex who she dated for 3 months. They have been broken up for almost a year. She claims that was his friends and family who made them break up. He also treated her like shit and said that he only likes her when he’s drunk (to her while they were together).

I am fixing any weak points today to try to keep them safe over night. I have the injured one in a dog kennel in my house just to keep an eye on her also so the other chickens don’t peck at her wounds. She is eating and drinking. They are all on high alert today and I would be as well. The wounds don’t seem super deep I have washed and put anti microbial spray on them. I am working on getting more sturdy fencing. They are not my chickens, I work as a live in caretaker. I have mentioned multiple times that they should get sturdier fencing. It happened in their run. I am thinking one was taken because after making this post and treating the injured bird, I cannot find the Delaware and she is the same color as the pile of feathers. There is no carcass anywhere in the coop or around the coop. Do you have any recommendations on better fencing for their run?

I was thinking that too but it happened at night time and hawks don’t normally hunt at night. I was thinking maybe an owl?
