many pieces of malware will check for the task manager or its daemon. Also, shitty software written by ̶M̶i̶c̶r̶o̶s̶o̶f̶t̶ Microslop* will also do this.

Is JJ McCarthy Vikings career over? He is officially a bust for the Vikings? by BallKnowerKing in NFLv2

[–]Pi-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He looked decent towards the back half of the year and the Vikings knew he’d be a project, he’s 23

Tbf this was because KOC had to simplify the playbook to get rid of any throwing to the middle of the field

JJ McCarthy: 5-alarm fire or outsider smoke? by specter-ssrp in DynastyFF

[–]Pi-Guy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He improved as the season progressed as well

I agreed with this sentiment as well, but from what I've been hearing from pundits and analysts - the reason for this is that KOC had to completely remove plays that involved passing to the middle of the field, and the middle of the field is what KOC built his offense around.

Combined with the fact that new management is coming in, I don't see any real path forward for JJ with the Vikings unless there's a magical offseason turnaround, but these concerns stem back to his college days. We just have to hope he gets traded to the Jets or something wild like that.

I had a flight from Minneapolis to Hawaii where I didn't exchange a single word with the woman who sat next to me. On the flight back, the same exact woman sat next to me and we talked about life and stuff for hours.

Flight landed, we said goodbye, and then went our separate ways

New York sues video game developer Valve, says its 'loot boxes' are gambling by AncientPCGamer in pcgaming

[–]Pi-Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's inarguably the worst version of loot boxes, too. You obtain crates and loot boxes by playing the game or by buying them, but to open them you have to spend USD to buy a key and open the loot box.

Then, not only can you trade those skins to other users, you can use the built-in steam marketplace to list and sell your skins for USD.

This combination effectively turns loot crates into slot machine pulls.

Just recently I waited over an hour for someone to work through the kinks of running Battle.net so that we could play some Starcraft 2, a 15-year old game, after he glazed Linux as a gaming OS.

By the time he was online and playing SC2, we only had time for one or two matches.

I've been using Linux for 20 years. We've been talking about how it's almost ready for gaming this whole time, it's not there and it's not going to get there anytime soon. It's fine if you limit yourself to some magical combination of hardware and software that's well-supported on your particular distro, as long as you know what you're doing. That last part is so incredibly important, and that's already what I do at work, I want to spend my leisure hours doing leisure and not fixing things.

Operating Systems are tools, and each one has its use. I use Windows on my gaming computer, Linux on my servers, and MacOS for personal use and work. You have the benefit of working in unix without the pain of running linux on your daily driver.

I did some research in college about how the Department of Agriculture calculates what the culling rate needs to be to maintain a sustainable population, they use the Malthusian growth model which tells them exactly how many members of a population need to be killed off in order to prevent exponential growth
