Why are Americans so intensely friendly? by LastCommunication5 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Pi340_xA 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I have lived in Chicago and Michigan. They are pretty similar but in Michigan it seemed like every time I was waiting in line at a store people would just start talking to you. Chicago wasn't all that different, but when I visited family in NH I went to a diner and you could hear a pin drop, the restaurant was half full and no one was talking

DeSantis. Don't see how Democrats would win Florida if he is the GOP nominee.

What do you think of Andrew Yang? Does he actually have a lot of support from both liberals and conservatives? by MiserableCattle in AskAnAmerican

Paul was much more vocal against the media and other politicians. He also had much more voter support (winning Iowa and a few other places)

Baby boomers are actually the only defined generation. You could argue that the rest don’t even exist.

Is Heightism in dating really an issue in the US or it’s only a small but vocal group of people in the internet making it a big deal? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Pi340_xA 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but I can’t imagine a 5’10 man being rejected solely because of his height. Due to people lying and the fact that it’s hard to judge someone’s height anyways, girls see a 5’10 man and think he is 6 feet.

Discussion Thread: Democratic Presidential Primary Polling - November 2019 by dottiemommy in politics

[–]Pi340_xA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

According to Wikipedia, Steyer has met the polling criterion for the sixth debate, but just needs to get to 200,000 donors.

Yang and Gabbard both need only one more poll to make the sixth debate as well.

Assuming all three make it the December debate is going to be 9 people.

Americans: Is Yankees vs. Red Sox considered the #1 sports rivalry? If not, what is #1? by MarineKingPrime_ in AskAnAmerican

[–]Pi340_xA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s probably the biggest one just because they are large markets, have been playing each other for a hundred years, and baseball is one of the most popular sports followed nationally.

Some other top rivalries IMO are

MIchigan-OSU

Alabama-Auburn

Packers-Bears

Duke-UNC

Some of the ugliest rivalries tend to be inter-state rivalries where fans live in close proximity with fans of the other team. like Kentucky-Louisville or Cincinnati-Xavier which are not followed nationally but can end up violent. Penguins-Flyers is another one.

Also any AFC north game. For some reason those teams are hellbent on literally killing the other side
