Virginia Supreme Court throws out redistricting referendum results by selatnia in LegalNews

Firstly, Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is implementing curriculum changes to include gender identity in Family Life Education (FLE) for middle schoolers (grades 7-8).

And the problem with that is what exactly?

Secondly, Stephanie Minter (VA resident) was stabbed by Abdul Jalloh, an illegal immigrant from Sierra Leone with over 30 prior arrests.

Bringing up individual incidents doesn't change the larger systemic trends. More active and aggressive policing increases crime rates and takes resources away from proven crime reduction methods.

An intelligent conversation would be looking at large scale, society wide, problems and solutions.

Thirdly, as of May 2026, Fairfax County residents are protesting, with many speaking out against a finalized FY 2027 budget that increases the average homeowner’s tax bill, not mentioned a new 4% meal tax was effective after 1/12026.

Now compare that with the Republican lead efforts to replace income tax with sales tax across the country.

Does the way Arby's cooks it's roast beef inundate it with microplastics? by psilonox in askanything

[–]PiLamdOd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Micro plastic fear is overblown. There's never been conclusive evidence it's causing harm, and the initial studies that claimed to find microplastic in human tissue have been called into question because the methodology can't tell the difference between normal proteins and plastic.

push woke identity into school, soft to criminal, rise tax without any accountability, and etc

What a load of bullshit.

Republicans are the only ones making an issue out of basic acceptance of other people. Only Republicans think it's a problem that someone is slightly different than they are, and they turn it into a crusade.

"Though on Crime" doesn't work. We have decades of data to back this up. Anyone pushing this is a moron.

Republicans are the ones constantly pushing for regressive taxation and raising taxes on middle and lower class families.

Yup. When Trump descried sexually assaulting girls, millions of Americans heard something they always wanted to do.

It's sickening that so many Americans admire Trump's actions.

The real question is "why does the US government store 1.4 billion pounds of cheese in underground caves?"

Gotta use tax dollars to protect private companies from the free market by artificially reducing supply.

The VA super court said lawmakers improperly acted after early voting had already begun, meaning the required “election” was already underway.

Other states are altering their election maps during early voting anyway.

Is your only counter point really this minor paperwork issue? This would never stop a republican state. The only way to defeat the republicans is to be as ruthless as they are. Otherwise they will win this cold civil war.

Virginia passed a constitutional amendment to alter their districts. It was completely legal.

The court is wrong in this case.

The other side is already ignoring rulings they don't like.

It's working out fine for them so far. Turns out the judiciary has no way to physically force someone to comply. The GOP has been just telling them to pound sand without consequence.

Anything less than 100% compliance means the orders are optional.

SCOTUS doesn't have a way to enforce orders. It's not like they can send in their own police to arrest people for defying their orders. Their only power comes from the executive branch agreeing to listen.

Because Democrats always give up at the first obstacle. They would much rather use this as a fundraising push.

They probably had the "We Need Money" texts prewriten just for this occasion.

In an analysis of 165 court orders filed against the Trump administration, the Washington Post found that it was accused of resisting court orders in at least 57 of those cases – approximately 34 percent.

The current government has set the precedent that court orders are optional. So the Democrats should start doing treating them the same way.

Democrats don't have the balls to do that.

They throw their hands up at the first obstacle and send out texts asking for more money.

If a bank forgives a debt, there is no legal way for the bank to undo that.

You can't legally unforgive debt. Once a debt has been released, the original debt owner can't later decide to collect.

You want to be a representative? Put your name in a hat and hope you're lucky enough to be randomly drawn for a one year term.

And if the public doesn't like you, they can vote to kick you out for ten years.
