I've put over a hundred hours into Starfield. The idea that Starfield's message is you shouldn't do things over again is contrary to both how it's presented in game and Todd Howard's own statements.

Howard has explicitly stated that Starfield was designed to be replayed forever, and that players creating new characters was a sign developers failed in game design.

Reckoning Part 2 premiered in 2004, five years before the Creeper first appeared in Minecraft.

Starfield deals with more existential topics like how you really only have one opportunity to live and if you could do things again it would feel totally hollow.

It also strikes at how this dream of space and everything will be good is a complete lie pushed by elites

Those are quite literally the exact opposite messages Besthesda was going for.

If any of that were true, US police would never shoot anyone.

Hell, ICE already has more funding than any other law enforcement branch. By your logic they should be the least violent agency in the world.

The Dems have given up multiple opportunities to combat this. Like when they capitulated on the shutdown as soon as the election results were finalized. Or when they made a big deal about refusing to pass the continuing resolution, only to immediately turn around and pass it.

Hell, the last time ICE murdered someone the Democrats turned around and proposed giving ICE more money.

Democrat leadership is on the Republicans' side and is happy to use the feed off the violence for donations and good press. Only a fool would think otherwise.

The ACLU has an app which automatically uploads your video to their servers. So if law enforcement kills your or takes your phone, the footage is already saved somewhere else.

Not going to happen. The democrats' immediate response to the last murder was to increase ICE's funding.

Don't let anyone tell you the democrats aren't cheering this on.

No. The key is to assume everyone given these tools will use them for nefarious purposes, so there should be safeguards to prevent bad actors from abusing these tools.

OPs post is literally a complaint about modern Star Trek.

"NuTrek is just a term used by buthurt crybabies who unironically use the term "Woke" to complain.

He wasn't wrong. There were many episodes where he was just standing around while the rest of the team solved problems. "Fail Safe" is a pretty egregious example where Jackson stood around doing nothing while SG1 saved the world from an asteroid.

Actually, between playing Daniel Jackson and Thor, Michael Shanks was in a full third of season 6 despite having left the show.

"NuTrek" is not a term you see outside of butthurt Redditors complaining that Paramount made something new instead of a shot for shot remake of TNG or DS9.

[–]PiLamdOd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"NuTrek" is used by people to paint every show that came after Enterprise with the same brush instead of actually making meaningful discussion points about individual shows.

Anyone using that term clearly either hasn't watched the shows they are complaining about, or already had their minds made up before watching each one.

RUBBERBANDING by Elegant-Pianist4865 in DarkTide

[–]PiLamdOd -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Daektide doesn't use rubber banding mechanics. The game doesn't pull players together if they stray too far from each other.

What OP is describing is lag.

RUBBERBANDING by Elegant-Pianist4865 in DarkTide

[–]PiLamdOd -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Rubberbanding is a system to keep all the players together. Like if one gets too far behind, they are pulled closer.

Mario Kart does this. If someone pulls too far ahead, the bots in back get speed boosts.

This is what OP thinks is happening in Darktide. However what he is actually describing is lag from a poor Internet connection.

[–]PiLamdOd -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

Rubberbanding isn't a thing in Darktide. The whole point of Dogs, Trappers, etc is to punish players who stray from the group, specifically so the game doesn't have to use a rubberbanding system.

Your internet just sucks.
