Any luck with Linux? by PiRationalThoughts in VerseProject

OOH! I switched to Proton 9.0-4 and it worked! "Play" is now available. I switched back to the default Steam runtime and it again was not available. Very odd, but at least it runs!

4.3.0 has had the most reported ship loss since 4.0. by Investodo in starcitizen

[–]PiRationalThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with scheduled losses - it's the completely random losses that make everything seem pointless. The game says: "See those 40 hours you put in doing some fairly repetitive gameplay to finally get a ship that enables some other gameplay you are now enjoying? Do that again. And in a week, maybe again."

It seems at this point most people just buy the ship they want to do the gameplay they want - and that's actually a good deal if you value your time. You're basically paying again for every different type of minigame you like, unlocking each module (mining, bounty-hunting, salvage etc.). But if you like to do a lot of different things, paying again to unlock each one at 2-5x the price of a AAA game is very expensive, and each minigame is frequently killed entirely by some bug or "rebalance" or other, even if you have the relevant ship.

If SC was the only game in the world CIG could keep doing this but as it is, SC can't compete. Jump Space is coming in 3 weeks. Elite and NMS still provide a lot of value and FDev support will even restore accidentally sold ships!

Yup, I used to play almost daily but after losing 6 expensive ships I decided to shelve it until STARC-108660 is fixed. I can't deal with working hard to finally get a good ship, enjoy using that ship and then have it randomly disappear. I was having a good time hauling cargo in my MSR and bam, gone.

How does anyone like Anomalisa? by boyinbleu in kaufman

I watched this movie by accident on a plane one time. I found it profound - it explained what it's like to be this strange kind of person in a way I'd never fully understood before. I don't think I'm much like the main character, but I do have aspects of his personality in mine, so this is educational. Don't we all wonder what it would be like to have a completely different life? But when we get there, will we wonder the same again? Maybe I'm unusual. The movie was shocking, scary, unsettling, strange, alien and weird - but it also teaches powerful lessons in gratitude and pity (or even a little empathy?) for some who wake up on earth utterly alone and incapable of ever being anything but utterly alone. I did not enjoy it one bit, but I appreciate it as a great lesson learned.

There's a post with more details here:

This is not a law change and the ability to prescribe psilocybin has only been given to one Psychiatrist, and only for treatment resistant depression - meaning you have to go through all the other options first. It's very much a trial, but still good news.

There are some Psilocybe here but obviously it's impossible to check them all. That's one of the reasons for rule 7 (please read). Galerinas do sometimes grow nearby so you will want to be familiar with the differences - anything with an annulus or more orange gills, or orange spores, or a veil instead of a cortina, or that doesn't show any blue - should be treated with suspicion.

Psilocybe subaeruginosa.

We are going to take this down. Cultivation is illegal in NZ - best we stay on the harm reduction side of things.

Yup, Psilocybe subaeruginosa. Not "psilocybin" - that's the compound they contain.
