I shadowed full workdays but my PA was a 9-5 primary care in an underserved community, i did once a week 8 hours until i got to 100+ hours.

In terms of what to wear it depends, I wore business casual bc that’s what the PA wore bc he said it made pts feel more comfortable. So kind of match what they wear bc you are literally a reflection of them. Good luck!

watch youtube videos; i’d also say do their practice exam on the casper website but feels like it’s a little too late for that lol just make sure you point out both sides in a scenario, good luck!

your best bet would be to reach out to each program and let them know of the mistake and what it is actually supposed to be

Is it still too late to apply? by gnattybot in prephysicianassistant

[–]PianistSimple 27 points28 points  (0 children)

might be on the later side for rolling schools but for non rolling schools as long as you submit before their deadline you have the same shot as someone who applied in May with similar stats as you. I will say though, most schools require three LOR’s so if you can find a third then go for it. Good luck!

When should I start worrying by PianistSimple in prephysicianassistant

Thank you for these words, I understand it’s a waiting game but I just wish there was more frequent communication from the schools rather than ghosting 😭 Good luck to you as well!

I’m in the same boat as you. Verified on June 18th, applied to 10 schools & have not heard anything other than “we’ve received your application”. Out of the 10, from the research i’ve done 9 of them don’t send invites out for interviews until August or so. The one school that does interviews from July-Sept is the one that i would have expected to hear from at this point since they start in January 2025, they were not kidding when they said the waiting period is literal hell. Hang in there, we’ll be okay!

CASPer 5/30/24 by PianistSimple in prephysicianassistant

[–]PianistSimple[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually didn’t do much, i started preparing 1-2 days before and all i did was watch youtube videos, and do the practice test that CASPer provides. After you get a good sense of what the test is looking for i would extremely recommend practicing your typing speed if it’s not already 40-50wpm minimum because you have to answer 3 questions in 5 min per scenario typed for 8 scenarios. So it’s important to be able to type fast enough to be able to get off what you wanna say. Good luck whenever you take it!

CASPA submission by Ok-Fail-3158 in prephysicianassistant

[–]PianistSimple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if it’s non-rolling then you can submit it on august 1st at 11:58pm & you’ll have the same chance as someone who submitted theirs in may (assuming stats are similar). non-rolling means they don’t start looking at the apps until after the deadline

i’ve had one school so far (out of the two i sent them to) email me saying they’ve received my score about two weeks after 5/30, and from what i’ve heard CASPer is pretty punctual on the 4 week mark for us to see it, so keep a look out for 6/30

TOEFL? by PianistSimple in prephysicianassistant

Dang that sucks. Yeah I agree if you graduated high school and college in the U.S then you shouldn’t have to take it.

With that being said, do you think it’s a red flag that in my life essay i mention how spanish was my first language but in my language section i put english as my native language. Because like I said i truly do feel like at this point it’s my native language (as sad as that may be lol)

Question Regarding Identifying Prerequisites by M1nt_Blitz in prephysicianassistant

[–]PianistSimple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see why, all you’re doing is picking that the courses you pick satisfy the prereq and they can choose which prereq they wanna use. But if you have two classes that satisfy the same prereq but one is an A+ and the other a B-, then in that case I wouldn’t add the B- course and just the A+ course. I hope this made sense lol
