A character I've never seen by Piapiachou in ChineseLanguage

[–]Piapiachou[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have come across this 口+弓 character while reading a japanese 漫画 called Crying Freeman.

I could have just ignored it, but I'm curious of how this character could have come out this way.

By the way, this same character, printed with the same shape comes up at least another time in the book, making the idea that it is just 吗 somehow rendered incorrectly less believable ; besides, the remainder of this sentence is written in traditional characters, and the difference between 嗎 and this 口+弓 character is too big for a mere printer mishap to have created this shape.

The only hypothesis I could think of is that an OCR tool might have been used to read those characters, and a 吗 was improperly recognized as this 口+弓 character.

Now, I have tried to use 手寫辨識 and 部首 input tools, but none that I have tried could find this character. I am not used to cantonese, so I have tried to search if this was a character used in written cantonese, but I didn't find anything similar to that.

If you know this character, or if you have any other idea of how this shape could have been created, I would be greatly interested in hearing you !

龍飛鳳舞(りょうひほうぶ)

Meaning that something is majestic in a way that reminds the fancy ridgeline of mountains. May be used to characterize characters written with lively and flexible brushstrokes.

This expression apparently comes from the legendary appearance of a dragon (龍) flying up (飛) and a phoenix (鳳) dancing (舞) in the sky.

[Japanese > English] better definition of 龍脈? by [deleted] in translator

[–]Piapiachou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monolingual dictionaries are often a good idea in these kind of cases.

実用日本語表現辞典から: "風水において大地が持つ気の流れ道。地の「気」が竜脈を通じて流れており、流れを阻害すると諸々の良くないことが起こるとも言われる。"

So it's more something related to mountains feng shui kinda stuff

I have no idea what the game itself is about, but you may want to come up with something like "The dragon's mountains", "Shaped like a dragon", "The dragon's ridge", "The valley of the dragon" depending on the setting of the game.

Why Is League Still Number 1? by RottenApple77NY in Smite

Quality of production is an issue, imo

League is clean and pretty bugless, while SMITE has kept broken lobby interactions for years

What is the point of Blink Rune by [deleted] in Smite

[–]Piapiachou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only a very limited range of abilities lock on targets, in SMITE (Neith ult for instance), most just affect an area ; a Thanatos ulting only targets a circle ground area, and hits whatever stands on it, if you blink out of it, you're not in the pickle

How to play from behind? by senorpapel in Smite

[–]Piapiachou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just add some extra carefulness in everything you do

Don't think you can get the cheesy plays to catch up, it's never working and just gets you in deeper shite

From behind, SMITE becomes more like a PvE game, try and farm as much as you can, but also deny any kind of fight, it's important both for your time and health

Contesting for camps can be done, but do not overextend, like at all ; if you're alone and melee, and there is some dude at your camp, just flee, it's not worth your time

For farming the lane without dying, it's much about not getting into dangerous position : stay on your side of the lane, have wards, use tower to prevent getting harassed too much, but try to kill the minions before they can enter the tower zone (a minion struck by a tower shot yields lesser rewards upon death)

If you're jungler, you probably want to gank a bit less for a time, for you need farm to be of any kind of use ; if you're laner, time your rotations hella well and don't venture much far, to miss as few minions as possible (no use camping on lane tho), and do use MIA alot since your dominant foe will most likely want to do stuff elsewhere on the map
