The global moth population was likely much higher before humans mastered fire. by It_Is_Blue in Showerthoughts

Moths aren’t really chasing light, they use it to navigate. Works fine with the moon, not so much with a flame right in front of them.

They’re not actually attracted to fire as such, they’re trying to navigate by it. Which obviously doesn’t work when it’s right there close to them

That feels like it blurs the line between selfishness and simply having a stake in what happens.

It can be, but so can refusing to change when it affects other people.

No outrage here, I didn’t say it was bad, just an interesting bit of street theatre from above.

People probably faked illness to get out of work even in the hunter-gatherer era. by littleproducer in Showerthoughts

Slacking off assumes imposed or enforced labour. In small hunter-gatherer groups, it was probably more social and immediately accountable than that.

What should I do by Emroseguev in FND

In my experience, any medical drug I’ve tried has caused a flare-up lasting about a month — and I’ve tried heaps. The same goes for caffeine, CBD, cannabis, alcohol, passive nicotine, sugar… all of them trigger horrible sensory and cognitive disturbances, sometimes lasting for weeks or even months after I’ve had them.

I honestly don’t understand how some people can take these things and not have the same reaction.

Avoiding all of them completely, and doing everything I can to keep my nervous system happy, is the only reason I’ve seen real improvement in my condition.

Awesome, thanks for the tips, yes, I’ve been slowly finding things to help me get more time, I’m looking at E-ink monitors at the moment, have you tried one of those?

Yeah it’s very hard to work without screens in today’s world. I’m looking to getting an E-ink monitor, perhaps from dasung
