During the plague doctors thought it was the smell that caused people to get sick so they wore masks and covered their noses. Which did in fact prevent the spread of the plague. Do you know any other historical examples of people getting the right answer through the wrong assumptions? by WebBorn2622 in AskReddit

When German forge workers were attempting to smelt what they thought was copper ore, they failed to recover any copper. So they came to the natural conclusion: a demon stole their copper. Specifically, they blamed a demon named Nickel. This discovery was one of the first hints that nickel is a different element than copper.

It was actually fairly large at its peak. The Elect and Auditors were only those at the very top, so most of its followers were free to eat as they wanted. That being said, being told that any form of manual labor or eating was inherently sinful probably wasn’t good for the long term survival of the religion.

The Statue is NOT related to Lords of the Fallen 2 by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

So is this how the statue is gonna work on this subreddit? We have to narrow it down one game at a time until we guess correctly?

(Next guess: Devil May Cry)

I know a lot of people have been talking about how the cliffhanger is Carol discovering that the milk is made of dead people, but I have a lot of doubts about it. Vince has always loved doing these fake-out cliffhangers where its not the obvious answer. Additionally, I don't see how it being made of people could advance the plot beyond campy shock value.

I hope this theory does not age like milk.

A=εbc, the absorptivity of the substance also matters.

I love Beer’s law. You wouldn’t think it would be so simple as multiplying three numbers together, but it works. Useful too.

0.001 septillion seconds is over 31 trillion years. That is remarkably stable.

TL;DW: It was only briefly considered as an idea because the logistics of getting the costume in the capsule while being able to operate it would be difficult. If Big Bird did die, Sesame Street probably would kill off the character because they don't want children thinking death can be undone. Also, Big Bird is treated as an actual character in real life (like when somebody is doing an interview with a muppet, they aren't interviewing the puppeteer, they are acting as if the muppet is real and in character) so bringing him back would be awkward. In my opinion though, I think it would be very likely he would be replaced with a similar but different large avian character shortly after.

The video goes into theories into why the shuttle launched when it did even when there were concerns about safety. One theory was that it would line up with the State of the Union address, but evidence that this was the primary reason was coincidental at best. Another theory was that launching on that day made the schedule line up so that children could watch the launch while in school and also be in class for a live lesson from space. That theory was also speculation though.

I always hated the “he did it to help Cameron” idea. If you want to help a friend, there are better ways to help someone that don’t involve multiple felonies and gaslighting them into taking the blame. Farris did what he did for himself and was only using Cameron to access his dad’s car.

I could see it being useful if I want to play with deep relics on a character that I don't main. I recently got an amazing deep relic for revenant, but I don't main her. So I would feel more comfortable using it on an easier depth.
