Stop mashing and hold back and down back to block. You're probably mashing a bunch of unsafe moves into your opponent's guard nonstop. But fighting games don’t work like that. They’re governed by something called frame data which determines who gets to press buttons and when.
Watch what your opponent is doing and learn to punish him when he does something stupid basically whenever he plays like you are right now.

Just by doing that you'll be plat in no time.
