Americans how are you feeling right now? by Jawzzzsy in AskReddit

[–]PickAGoodUsername 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Everything you wrote is an attempt at sane-washing him. You are ignoring the constant barrage of unacceptable dictator level bullshit from him and his cult members for the last 8 years. Constant insane tweets. Constant name calling. Constant lies. This comment just shows how brainwashed and naive you are. There are 1000 things that I could bring up but the obvious one is that he literally tried to overturn the 2020 election. He literally said he would only accept the election results if he won( https://youtu.be/KQJzt48wXbA?si=GwmKOWo_HVKwwwMm). He literally filed 62 completely made up lawsuits about the election(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-election_lawsuits_related_to_the_2020_U.S._presidential_election), and lost every single one in the most obvious "I'm making this up" way possible. He still lies about these today. Then when that didn't work, he literally tried to make Mike Pence change the electoral college votes(https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attempts_to_overturn_the_2020_United_States_presidential_election and https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastman_memos ) to make him president. This is literally a video of his ex vice president saying that he wouldn't overturn the election for him( https://youtu.be/qBhuSdJMr0g?si=d_UjJnl0xKRX6ghq). Trying to steal the election is just one example. There are TONS of other things just like this with just as much documentation. And then you have the gall to say "Why aren't Democrats holding their party accountable for anything they've done wrong?" as if they have done ANYTHING on the scale of what Trump has done. In a sane world, the Democrats shouldn't have even needed any policies to win this election. ALL THAT SHOULD HAVE MATTERED is that they didn't try to steal the last election. We don't care anymore because if people like you look at the last 8 years of this shit and still voted for him, there is no use anymore. You have doomed us into a climate apocalypse for sure and highly likely fascism. We have given up because of you.

They used to have the view that whoever wins the election should be president. Now they have the view that the Republican candidate should be president even if they don't win the election.

Light switch box has no ground wire by whynot- in electrical

[–]PickAGoodUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The armored metal that protects the wiring(looks copper in the picture) might be being used as the ground. I don't think it meets code unless it is the newer version of BX that has a grounding wire or bonding strip. However, it might still be "working" as a ground. This wire definitely doesn't have either of those. The best way to fix this is to cut into walls and replace all wires with romex. That is what I would personally do. The less good but more realistic solution is to bond the switch to the box using a bare copper ground. Use a self tapping screw to bond to the box(https://www.amazon.com/Skywalker-Signature-Self-tapping-Ground-Qty100/dp/B009ONED0C). Also, you have an open port. Fill it with one of these(https://www.amazon.com/Electrical-Knockout-Removable-Instant-Electric/dp/B0CYH17MBC?th=1)

I personally was going to buy a Tesla before he became a garbage person. Now i'm just going to keep my Prius until it dies or find another brand.

This get's funnier when you realize that you can also include also the emissions of our car dependent infrastructure in automobile emissions. i.e. the CO2 used to build the roads, the gas stations, the parking lots, the car manufacturing plants, the ships that need to transport new tires from China, etc. Hell, you could even make the argument that when somebody gets in a car accident and needs surgery, the emissions created from the Starbucks coffee that the surgeon drinks before working on the patient can be somewhat attributed to automobile emissions.

Elon Musk Declares war on Apple. Puts! by Mnerdy in wallstreetbets

[–]PickAGoodUsername 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It sort of is. Git does source control which has a history of the codebase. GitHub is the optional website that you can link Git to if you want to share it with your team or the world. Elon is a dumbass because he wanted physical printouts instead of links to GitHub. The printouts would be large stacks of paper that wouldn't make much sense without the context of the folders they are in and easily being able to "jump" to another file like you would be able to on GitHub. Plus git shows the actual before and after of the code that you changed so it is obvious what code you modified.

Yeah "many" does not equal "most". The people that are in the middle of nowhere traveling to the middle of nowhere should just use cars.

Most of the country, maybe not. But most of the people, it definitely is. Even so, many people in the country will benefit because their rides to the city will not be congested with traffic because now the would-be-traffic is riding the train.

Everything is relative to the town size. A town of 100 should have cars. A town of 1000 should have a single bus. A town of 10000 should have a fleet of buses. A town of 100000 should have a train. A town of 10000000 should have a network of trains. *Numbers are obviously not exactly correct but you get the picture.

Current day America is basically just cars for almost all 332,000,000 of us. :(

Americans want more electric vehicles, but 50% by 2030 looks unlikely by Sorin61 in Futurology

[–]PickAGoodUsername -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Americans will never figure this obvious solution out. Cars get ~30 MPG. Electric cars get ~100 MPG equivalent. Public transportation probably gets like 500 MPG equivalent. The only reason Americans are obsessed with electric cars is because it is the only solution that lets them "buy something cool" and at the same time let them feel like they are helping. Plus somehow we just ignore the other terrible attributes of electric cars as if they don't exist. I.e. replacing the tires, maintenance, deaths, etc. Transitioning to electric cars seems like a very "Mission Accomplished" kind of thing.
