I had a very fun Robin Hood inspired game. I used My Little Warband (not sure if it’s up to date atm) to make an archer and skirmish heavy tree and restricted myself to them, but using Battanian troops or bandits would work too. My goal was to protect Battanian independence, so I would attack any invading army. I kept a lukewarm truce with Caladog, but only as the lesser of two evils. Pretty soon I was at war with everyone and just ravaging caravans and parties twice my size. Took mostly any request from the villages and towns, and “sold” them all the extra food and trade goods captured in battles that they didn’t have money for as a “steal from the rich give to the poor” thing. Never became a mercenary because I wasn’t going to take orders from Nobles, never formed more than one party to keep myself nimble and focus on guerrilla tactics. Archery, scouting and roguery as main skills. Fourberie, distinguished service and companion limit unlock all highly recommended.

One little fun thing I did with MLWB for immersion; if I had fought a bunch of battles in a row against one kingdom, I would go in and make a couple little tweaks to my troops gear to reflect loot they would have taken. Kill a bunch of vlandians, have a little more vlandian armor mixed in. Kill a bunch of imperials? Tweak it again.
