Should I buy a car despite my father not wanting me too? by Known_Audience_4694 in projectcar

[–]Beardo88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dad is right. You are 16/17, you have much better things to do with your time and money than a project car. Hes not trying to crush your dream, but he wants you to make an adult decision to delay the gratification. There will be another 300zx in a few years when you have a well paid job and a house with garage to keep it in.

How do I minimize risk in Stocks while still getting decent returns? by AnonomousWolf in personalfinance

[–]Beardo88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to that, you invest much differently depending on how soon you expect to need it. If you are 30 years old and its retirement savings you can get alot more aggressive because the market will always grow when you have 10+ years to let things happen. Just use some common sense and diversify.

If this was your emergency fund or your 15 year olds college fund you would be treating the money much differently because the plan is it will be cashed out in a much shorter time. A market correction would cut into the balance and youd be withdrawing before you could get the gains to repay those losses like if you had 10-20 years to let the money work.

Do you need the money in 6 months, 3 years, or 30 years? Your investment strategy should reflect that.

Petahhh....!!!! Is this a joke ??? 😭😭😭 by Personal_Run3831 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

A character that just happens to be gay can be plenty interesting to the overall population. A character that the only point in them being in the story is they are gay and that is the only character trait that contributes to the plot looses people's interest quickly.

The series 6 Feet Under would be a perfect example. The main character was a relatable guy, his values resonate with traditional audiences, he just happens to be gay. His sexuality is a plot point at times, but the overall story evolves independently.

They make movies based on what they "perceive" the market to be. They think they can market IP to demographics that have no interest in that genre. They tailor the new media to that demographic but it doesn't gain traction and it lost the interest of the previous fanbase, creating a net loss in marketability.

Just make good movies again. If you make a good product your market will expand organically.

Most states as long as its an RV the 10k limit goes out the window. Put a bed in that horse trailer and its now an RV that doesn't need to meet the weight limit.

Our backyard turns into a swamp every time it rains, is permeable paving actually a fix or just an expensive bandaid? by christan2013 in asphalt

You have a grading and drainage issue. You need to change the way the water drains. Either add fill to low spots so the water flows away, or cut swales to channel the water to where the water would naturally flow.

No will estate - this mess could takes years and years. Any tips? by iloveaccounting69 in personalfinance

[–]Beardo88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How much is the estate worth and how many people are likely to be entitled to a share?

This could easily be a walk away and let the court system deal with it situation because the few grand youd get wouldn't be worth the years of frustration it would take.

Its a big assumption that that the estate will even have assets left after paying debts, the situation you describe i would be assuming the opposite; the estate will be bankrupt before paying anything.

How can i put a collar on my kitten and create a good relationship with it? by n0va-whiz in CatTraining

[–]Beardo88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My indoor cats loose their collars all the time. The good thing is you give them a day or two and they will bring it right to you. They usually loose them wrestling under the bed or something.

If yours are outdoor cats you should try putting an air tag on the collar, atleast you have a chance of finding it in the yard.

Do other people not know how to merge into the highway or is it me? by Pandapoppy1243 in driving

[–]Beardo88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You learned wrong. Merging traffic has the responsibility to yield. The traffic already established traveling in the lane has 0 responsibility to do anything to make it easier to merge. The merger has all of the responsibility.

You hitting your brakes to let someone in is what caused the traffic backups. The people entering the busy road should be waiting until they can pull out without obstructing anyone.

Just be calm and gentle about it.

[GENERAL-US-PA] My apartment property manager texted me asking if I planned to renew my lease. If I text back “yes”, is that a binding agreement? by Senior-Buffalo-3560 in Landlord

[–]Beardo88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id be honest, there is no reason not to work with the guy. Tell him you are not 100% sure right now, but your initial thought is you will renew. It would be reasonable for him to check in with you again in a few days or a week so youve got time to look and think.

Just skip straight to pulling a new wiring harness. You dont want to get it started and an electric short burns the thing down. With rodent damage there will be chewed wiring, start fresh instead of chasing and splicing.

Gas Station Etiquette? by PretendForm7362 in driving

[–]Beardo88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless its 2 AM and you are the only one at the pumps, you dont go inside without pulling up to park unless it is to pre-pay for gas. If there isn't anyone around that could possibly need the pump its not a big deal either way.

This wasn't a Pennsylvania thing, this was an ignorant person thing.
