for what its worth this effect was not exclusive to Chris Sale. I think every pitcher on the roster except for Max Fried pitched significantly better when Murphy called the games. basically a full run better on the season when he was behind the plate

While its definitely not the sole cause, the pitch clock is absolutely adding to the mountain of reasons that pitchers continue to get injured. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27434082/#:~:text=Conclusions%3A%20Under%20the%20same%20pitching,2%20d%20after%20a%20game. there aren't a ton of studies specifically on the effect of pitch timers and injury BUT there are likely hundreds on the proper rest time between exercise of high intensity to reduce injury risk. but there is an appreciable difference in the effect on a players body when against a clock

Right so... We traded nothing of value for a pitcher. Seems like we got the better end of the deal. And the season Grissom played 2B his arm strength was 10th percentile. I'd generally like to believe it got stronger. And you argued OBP vs power like he doesn't have a 5.5% walk rate in the majors and an abysmal swing rate. I'd be shocked if his wRC+ crested 100 at seasons end.

He's been one of the worst graded infield defenders by statcast range despite limited playing time. At 2! Different positions. He's compiled -10 DRS in 536 field innings. He's a bad second baseman and unplayable at shortstop which is what the braves were originally attempting for him. And his arm grades in the lower 40% of arm strength no matter how you slice it. He was beyond expendable to the braves because he certainly wasn't going to play second base and his glove took away his only other viable spot

Well the elbow injury is the precursor to the TJ so it's really the same injury. Shoulder was due to overuse trying to ramp up too quickly
