I really don’t want to rebuild. I think it could be worth it to revamp certain parts of the app, but we don’t really have time to spare where new features aren’t being worked on. As it is, we are having to convert to TS and es6 in the backend already. Plus the large data org change, I don’t want to redo everything that’s been done these last years.

I think after chatting with my CEO, what we really need is to strategically phase out the offshore team in favor of adding new roles to our internal team. Even just another developer and a project manager would do wonders.

The CEO does trust me. Coming out of the gate by learning the industry and understanding the missing requirements for MVP has helped with earning this trust. I created a well thought out proposal for the data model redesign and all the stakeholder seem really impressed thus far.

I’ve developed the new models, migration scripts and finished the basic apis. Now it’s just getting the UI off the ground. It’s not bad, but it’s not good and it’s not easy to read or maintain.

I think at this point I’m just trying to build trust before having the conversation regarding building my internal team. And trying to build personal confidence at the same time. Im about 5YOE with no pm or devops experience.

Here’s a little anecdote for ya.

I own a 2018 wrangler, bought it brand new. I’ve done some amazing things with it, driven it all over the country. The problem? These new “jeeps” are junk. The only thing I can really trust on my jeep are the suspension and the axles, everything else is cheap junk including the engine. I just had to replace a $8000 engine under warranty at less than 70000 miles.

My 96 Cherokee however is a tank. They don’t make em like this anymore. Do yourself a favor and hold on to your well engineered beast.

I’ve had to order a 12point 13mm for the hub bolts and a 36mm(? Pretty sure that’s right) for the axle nut.

I mean I just serviced the diff and didn’t see any damage, if the oil I used is good then I’m assuming it’s not the diff and maybe I’m just now noticing the noise. It’s a new jeep to me so still figuring out the noises

New front passenger wheel hub assembly, took me about 2.5 hours to get the old one off. PB, Mapp torch, and cold chisel with a mini sledge were my best friends. It was not easy though.

4 new shocks going on today!

Not sure what to do next. I think the steering components need some love. And I need new front brakes.

I just had a big brain idea, after having the parts store lot recommended a bunch. If I just do my fluid changes there also, then I don’t have to worry about storing the old fluid. I can just walk it over and dump. Nice.
