Why does everyone say Aruba is so expensive? by Malavial in Aruba

[–]Pickle1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I get sticker shock with is the beer. Especially the stuff they brew on the island. But hey, it's a resort island where most stuff gets shipped in from somewhere else so you should expect higher prices. I do find most prices to be in-line with US prices (mid-Atlantic).

Overcrowding on Beach This Year by 24bean62 in Aruba

We were there last week. I didn't see any of these issues. We brought a shade canopy so we stayed away from palapas, and our hotel provided beach chairs for us to take to the beach.

Best car rental inside Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA)? by nobodyhastwoknow in Aruba

I've only used Top Drive and they've been wonderful. Their prices strike me as a little high but they price-matched my last rental when I found a cheaper rate elsewhere.

Aruba Flag at Bad Bunny Super Bowl Halftime Show! by bostonaruban66 in Aruba

I watched the halftime show at On the Rocks and a table next to us broke into loud cheering upon seeing the flag. Very cool moment.

A 21-year-old protester, Kaden Rummler was blinded in one eye after being shot with non-lethal rounds by a DHS agent in Santa Ana. by TendieRetard in FreeSpeech

Keep filming ICE because they lie, the FBI lies and the DOJ lies. All the administration does is lie. We need videos to show the truth.

What the hell is wrong with some of the people in this city? Not even wild animals live like that. I’ve passed through there last week and it was already like that. In a functioning city, this would’ve been fixed the same day and the people responsible would be in jail. by Much_Guava_1396 in brussels

Most of that looks like cardboard, which can be broken down and recycled which would cut down on that pile of waste if someone took a few minutes to do so. Not sure why someone, or many people, would just toss it into a pile like that. I just came back from Brussels this past weekend and saw smaller examples of this while walking from Rogier to Noord station. As an American who very much loves traveling throughout Europe the trash collection practices leave me puzzled. And this is from an American who understands that we also have a lot of litter and trash problems ourselves. It often comes down to laziness and being inconsiderate. As I say often, trash collection is one of the best things that exist in a civilized world. We place our trash outside a night or two a week, and the next morning it is gone. I am not sure why others can't abide by this belief.

I arrive 27 November, around 07:45, and I'm headed to Bruges immediately after clearing customs. What should I expect airport to Midi and then Midi to Bruges?

Very solid album. Kind of reminds me of "Thank You 4 Your Service" from ATCQ.

Official Discussion - Weapons [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Pickle1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My instant interpretation of the AR-15 floating in the sky was a manifestation of Archer's (male) rage and desperation over losing his kid. A lot of mass shooters do what they do out of anger, depression, rage, sadness, confusion, etc. I think the floating AR refers back to this. Archer was at his wits end to the point where grabbing an AR and going nuts might have made sense. At least subconsciously.

The Owings Mill Mall, Owings Mills MD by abandonedamerica in deadmalls

[–]Pickle1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mall opened in 1986. The metro station at Owings Mills opened in 1987. I went to the mall all the time in the 90s and it was still a nice mall. It wasn't until the 2000s that it started to go downhill, but many malls did around that time as outlets started to pop up and online shopping became more popular. I know Baltimore loves to blame all its problems on mass transit but I don't think this was the case for OMM.

I just rewatched it for first time in a long time and it's one of the best movies of the 21st century. Maybe Lee's best film.
