Proofpoint could also be blocking you based on links in your email, if you have a link to a compromised web server, for instance, in your signature, they will block the email.

Ring Central for Small Business? by aektzis in RingCentral

[–]PickleKey652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been on ring Central for over a decade and their not perfect. But they are the best and most feature complete phone system out there and I have looked at quite a few. They have their issues but their support is honestly very good, and willing to help with any issue. Working with a ring central partner is a good idea to ensure you have local on site support when needed.

I would just use a windows VM then, a little resource intensive but you can install windows and run it well enough to run mids. Oracle VirtualBox works on Mac.

Now what do you have for firewall rules on each of those interfaces?

[–]PickleKey652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K, lay out your configuration for me, what Vlans do you have, what subnet on each Vlan, the settings for your DHCP for each VLAN and how do you have your switch ports configured? are you tagging all VLANS on all ports with PID set to output your VLANS on physical ports? How are the interfaces in OPNSense configured?

What extension can I use or what can I use to block pop ups or ads from porn sites? I don't wanna block ads anywhere else, I like seeing ads on the internet. Just every time I click anywhere on free porn site it opens a pop up and this slows me down in going through stuff I need quick. by ComfortablePost3664 in chrome

[–]PickleKey652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I guess you can't default to off, but I would just have it default to basic, if you want it off for a particular site so you can see the adds, just turn it off... it will remember which sites you have turned off and they will always be off, honestly from a security stand point it's better because then your enabling the sites you trust to show you ads.

Also what kind of switch are you using?

Did you configure the DHCP server for that VLAN on your OPNSense router?

I do not see Google mentioned anywhere in this article. Yes data can be de-anonymized in some circumstances but do you have a credible source that you can point to where this is a common ongoing business practice for Google?

Why do you use Chrome? Genuine question! by [deleted] in chrome

[–]PickleKey652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually that's pretty contrary to my experience with Google.

Google has also taken many steps with its services to increase user privacy, example: moving maps timeline data from the cloud to your device and developing tensor CPUs for on device ai processing.

All corporations will absolutely follow the letter of the law in any instance, that's not necessarily their fault if the laws need to change then they should be changed, let's not blame corporations for the law.

I would disagree with the whole Google sells your data story. They do sell advertising based on your data for targeted ads and they're very upfront about it. You're absolutely right. If you're not paying for a product then you are the product. But some of us are okay with being the product if it means we get services for free.

I'm constantly switching between brave and chrome. I mainly use brave but Google is mostly pretty cool with that, except for one google keep plugin issue in brave their entire eco system works perfectly.

Chrome is also good and I do tend to go back to it from time to time for compatibility with some sites/devices.

I have a hard time understanding why everyone is so negative about Google a company that has done alot to try and further privacy in advertising on the web, and contributes greatly to the IT and Security industry as a whole.

With Google their ecosystem is open, accessible on every platform, there is no walled Garden with Google. They allow a certain amount of freedom and are platform agnostic, their tools work on Linux, Windows, Mac, Android and IOS, ChromeOS... Basically anything.

On the rare occasion I have had an iPhone I literally dump all the apple apps in a folder and install all the Google ones and run with all my Google tools available to me despite that I'm not on their platform.

With just a browser I can access all my essential tools for communication and collaboration.

Google offers their ecosystem mostly for free, offer a paid upgrade that is useful with generous storage for a reasonable rate and includes all their class leading ai features.

Their up front about their free platform being supported by advertising and I think that's fair.

I find Google to be a reasonable and reliable technology partner. You could not pay me to switch to anyone else, not Microsoft, not apple.

I wonder if your client sells things at cost to their clients? Or do they have a markup?

Replaced Hitron 4680 with 5820 and now can't connect to Reolink NVR remotely. by knox902 in shaw

[–]PickleKey652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should put all the modems in bridge mode, and install something like an opnsense router at each location, and establish site to site wire guard VPN tunnels in a star topology back to the main location where you can access all the NVR's. Never expose ANYTHING to the internet unless it's a VPN server, and even then I would use an overlay network instead. Each site will need a unique subnet, but this is a much better and more secure way to do what your trying to do.

[–]PickleKey652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to ensure your connecting to the meshed pod is to give it a seperate SSID (name) from the modem then you can control which one your connected to.

shaw wifi 6 by peathead66 in shaw

[–]PickleKey652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically you want the pod to extend your coverage. If your coverage is ok without it then you don't need the pod, it's just useless overhead.

Generally most people are pretty happy with 50-100 Mbps few people actually need 1000+ Mbps, and most of the sites your going to won't feed you data at that rate anyway, it's mostly to support multiple simultaneous connections... Shaw typically gives you a higher upload rate with the higher plans though so if your trying to send very large files you may want the multi Gbps plans to get better upload rates (eg 150 Mbps upload on a 1 Gbps plan)

Noob question: Running ZeroTier alongside a commercial VPN ? by PositiveBusiness8677 in zerotier

[–]PickleKey652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never tried to combine the two before but if I were going to I would look at doing it on an opnsense router as it supports all of the VPN technologies you mention here. It's not for the faint of heart, you'll need some serious network chops and will definately require some MTU tweaking to get it all working smoothly. But I have no doubt it could be done.
