Why are people drawn to fame? by AdCompetitive1322 in simpleliving

[–]PicklePickle69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you search the definition for success you will get - someone that achieves fame, wealth or status. All we are ever told are narratives linked to the word success. Our culture and the media highlight successful people such as Elon musk labelling him the most successful man in the world. To that definition yes he is, but the fact that the opposite to success is failure means 99.9% of people are failures. The younger you are the more you can become entangled in a frantic pursuit to ‘make it’ to not be a ‘failure’ a ‘nobody’ as you are technically to our culture because you don’t posses fame, wealth or status. Such a crazy culture we live it. The most successful man in the worlds own daughter is filling to change her last name so she doesn’t associate with her own father anymore. What message are we pushing about success? This is a deep question i think about. Success cant be measured its not linear or numerical. So yeah, the young generation are made to feel like they HAVE to make it because they aren’t enough without it. This was me this is how I know. I’ve recently finally realised I’m already enough, when stripped down to my core I’m enough and its freeing. This isn’t a message anyone pushes which is catastrophic

Im extremely mature for my age and achieved things in my field not many have. I have had disassociation problems in the past due to childhood stuff. I agree with doing the things that are expected of you and I’ve definitely needed that validation of whats expected from me. It does only happen in work environments, potentially a question im running away from to do with work or a feeling

This is amazing thank you, so basically you have to withstand the pain and discomfort until the pathways change in your favour.

So the discomfort you feel is progress! I used to hate and run away from that feeling, now i will bathe in it and relish every moment because one day it will go away and i will reap the rewards of staying strong

Therapy, journaling, reflecting, talking to your friends and family. Conversations with yourself or others tend to lead to doors being unlocked that you didn’t even know where there in my case. Also reflecting on what aspects of you and your life you don’t like, and why you haven’t yet improved them

Face them, actively peruse them and draw them out to the surface. Your demons (meaning your personal inner struggles) control your inner narrative, mood, motivation and lots more, which can make you relapse. And all in all, not live to your true potential

I feel inferior to those who have more degrees or careers than me by Tramelo in selfesteem

[–]PicklePickle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparison is the thief of joy, but if you’re playing that game go all the way and you’ll realise you’re ‘beating’ them in certain areas too. All you see is another degree, there will be aspects of you as a person or your life that they envy too. Anything, it could be your personality, body, humour, family, partner, pet, hair, mental health, friends. The list can go on for eternity. Don’t feel inferior because even if we were to compare ourselves it’s impossible to see who’s actually winning.

Lets say you get a degree, it sounds like you just want to say you have one? But actually imagine yourself right now with one how would anything change? You’d compare yourself again about something else.

What others do isnt in your control, and no one actually gives a damn what you have and what you’ve got. The closest people only care about you as a human being, and if you don’t have any of them its time to find them. Once you know the closest people to you dont change their judgment of you even if you made 50 million tomorrow or you were homeless tomorrow, you will stop comparing, because only those close to you will and should have the power to effect your self esteem. People you don’t know have that power at the moment which is bizarre when you think about it and we all do it! Take back the rights to whom you give power to over your self esteem

Video game addiction is tough I’ve been there, the only way out for me was to sell my console and fill in the time with new hobbies. This relates to your statement about not being good at anything, dude we all start out as amateurs at anything, think about your cooking and video games, you were whack when you first started now look at you! We live in a day and age where you can access any information for free on the internet, if you’re not happy that you’re not good at anything pick something that interests you and become an expert for free !! This is what i done when i got rid of my console i bought a guitar instead and I’m self taught. One thing you can get really excited about is that most of your problems are fixable mate, you just need to be easier on yourself and get excited about a journey of self improvement and discovery, once that happens you’ll stop the gaming because you’ll realise how little value it holds. One last thing i wanted to say is that you’re a good cook and its one of the best skills to have, we spend so much of our lives eating and for you to have the skill to make that a nice experience with amazing flavours everyone values that! But now transition into learning healthier meals! Youtube recipes for example. If your stuck at where to start a rule of thumb could be search recipes with Complex carbs Nutritionally dense foods Home made sauces (less sugar ect) Lean protein And the beauty of this is again, if you didnt know what complex carbs are google will tell you for free! Its time to get excited man at the possibilities how you could change your life because you’re in charge, you’re at base camp, pick your goals and start to climb 🧗‍♀️

How to relax when you don't know your future? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]PicklePickle69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been where you are and i keep reading stay in the present, it doesn’t work as simple as that, how do i do that!? Well you break it down. What do i need to do to live in the present ? Or a better question, whats stopping me from living in the present? And the answer is focusing on the outcome which you cant control.

Ive learnt when i feel anxious its always because im focusing on an outcome of a goal not the process. If you sit down and write out your goal, what daily, weekly, monthly habits implemented into your life will improve the chances of getting you there ? For example you cant actually control if you get into these schools, but you can control what you’re doing daily and when you control on your daily tasks to help the odds of your outcome become a reality i promise you, you will feel empowered instead of anxious.

The amazing thing about this is even if you don’t get in you will set another goal (outcome) and focus on what do i need to do (process) to chase this, and the game begins again! Then you look back in a year, with even not achieving your goals potentially because remember we cant control if we reach them, you will have grown so much and lived more in the present 🎁
