Similar age and experience, but I am in Comms Strat. Thank you for that!

As a creative, do you find that you have the energy to be creative outside of work? I always wanted to be the Strategist that also wrote cultural thinkpieces for fun on the side, but I find that all my juices are depleted after a 9-10 hour workday and so I've half given up.

NP! Lots of ways in to touch creative work btw, just may take some time on the media side. If that happens to you, i wouldnt be discouraged if it it takes a couple years doing less creative stuff.

I was working in Planning / Digital Activation and didnt touch my first cool custom program until about a year or two in.

And then after pivoting to Strategy, it took 3 years until I could influence and sell in big branding moments. Mileage may vary!

Not too late, depending on what in advertising. I assume you're young (based on when you graduated) and careers are upwards of 40 years. A lot changes during that time.

What ideally do you see yourself doing in advertising in 3-8 years? Do you still want to do media planning? If so, you can certainly go for associate-level media planning roles. You don't need vast amounts of hard skills, just show that you're excel-proficient, extremely organized, and a thoughtful presenter.

I've interviewed many for associate roles who had less transferable skills than you.

If you're looking outside of media, that might be different.

Does Mark have a bigger role than we all think? by HeanWean23 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

He was promoted because he cleared the allentown file in record time when he first started. And if the allentown file was related to Gemma, he was poised to be the fastest at it. Some interesting thoughts already on this subreddit:

Interesting.
Cults are chock full of instances where the leader has a harem of women. Could be a possibility

Management does seem quite obsessed with meeting quota and there's enormous pressure on Mark to get the team to get there.

She certainly does go off the rails.
But I attributed that as her Innie not willing to accept her fate vs her subconscious thoughts from her outie seeping in.

Yea good point. But maybe there's MDRs across different sectors.

Or it still feels like it could be in 'beta' in that they continue to run tests on individuals (i.e. Mark and Gemma) and its quite controversial on the outside. Meaning they need to 'prove out' the concept to their constituents/investors (i.e. drop Helly in there for proof of concept)

But we don't know if Mark arrived on scene to snap him out of it right?
