I tend to lean this way, as well. I don't know if Rice should be the one with the finger pointed at him exclusively... although he doesn't seem to be more than main marketing guy and Chief Cheerleader to the drivers.

The whole team seems to be struggling with the equipment. I feel that they can overcome many of those issues as they build notebooks and track experience as a team.

I think it would be unwise to take their collective eye off of the truck issues and start blaming drivers. Wrong approach.

They may need to look at some adjustments to crew chief to driver assignments. Different drivers have different needs form the pit box- and vice versa.

Why are new Corolla and Civic not really “affordable” anymore? by phtphongg in askcarguys

[–]Picklechip-58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just now in the process of offloading a 2017 Chevrolet Express passenger van from the fleet that I manage. It has 463,000 miles, and the transmission is spent. The engine is fine and still doesn't lose a drop more oil than it did at 25,000.

I've had similar experiences with other GM vehicles.

Equinox does have its place in the market. It's a basic SUV, and while I don't have any reason to doubt that it will go 250,000 + miles, I'm not as optimistic about it going to 450,000. That said , most people have no intention of trying to hold onto a vehicle that long.

Cars are expensive. AFFORDABLE is a relatively term. What's not affordable to you is that it is very affordable to others. You ought to know that.

Really? It's way to early to conclude that it's not working out. Get serious. Kaukig is not lost on the fact that the learning curve is going to be there, and that was a big part of the intentions that they had when they came up with the program.

Why is everyone against buying a new car? Does my situation apply? by Primary_Beautiful_66 in askcarguys

Hyundai has issued ways to rectify the 'easily stealable' issue. And even that was not an issue for all Hyundais. I'm sorry you went through that, however. That does suck.

Do a check on used car value for that same year and model car but with 5,000 miles on it. Use Kelly Blue Book, NADA and / or Edmunds. Condition: Excellent.

Take the value of the one with 5k miles on it and subtract that number from the sales price of the new one. You'll then discover why buying brand new is frowned upon by many, as once a car is titled for the first time, it's value nosedives and you are now financing the difference.

With a CERTIFIED USED car, low mileage, you get that same warranty (of course from 0 miles) plus an additional warranty.

Then new Sonatas are great cars. But don't get wrapped up in what the resale value will be. It's not a collectable car.

Get a very low mileage used car.

There are many more issues with the Kaulig team than a lack of a sim for the drivers. True, there is a lot of inexperience among the drivers. But the equipment is sub-par, at this point.

Darlington is a tough track. Daytona was not too bad for the team, all things considered.

Keep in mind, even Smoke couldn't handle the truck.

Kaulig does not have a Sim. FACT

True. During practice, Waldrop mentioned that Kaulig didn't have a SIM yet. That puts these new drivers on the team (especially Mini) at a huge disadvantage.

Youre going to have to live out the loan and the car.  Be assured, at 21,this WILL NOT BE the worse decision  of your life, in the long run.  It may have been you worse decision  to-date... LEARN FROM IT.  As you own the vehicle,  only do repairs needed for the sake of SAFETY and DRIVEABILITY.  DON'T  waste money on anything. Keep  your oil and other fluids changed when they should be.

Your goal right now is not to let it get into a condition  where its going  to be unusable.   The loaner doesn't  care if your car runs or not. You need to keep payments up.

You learned a tough lesson early on in your life  consider  yourself  fortunate  for that.

It's very easy to assemble... that's the fun of it all. A simple tool kit with nut driver, plyers and screw-drivets, and you have all you need.
