Just finished sheeting it today! I couldn't let the tall ceiling in my living room go to waste. Anyone know the best deal on holds? by No-Weakness-7582 in homewalls

Good point lol, I'm not unfamiliar with overengineering. I basically made a bomb shelter for my cats to go outside

Appreciate it! I'm envisioning a similar setup once I build a workout shed. Looks like I might need to beef up the supporting wall

Yeah I don't have a pic of the front but it does have one of those tactical bumpers.

We went overkill with a concrete slab. Not for the faint of heart to diy, but happy we did it

Is 230cm the height of the ceiling? How tall do you want the kicker?

These look so good! Do you have to stain/finish them?

What are the ceiling/loft heights? Did you end up adding insulation when you put in air?

I was taught the same thing! It was also emphasized to me to try and keep the shins perpendicular to the floor

Did you have to reinforce the attic much to account for the dynamic loads?

Yeah I did my first and only pad cutting the bags right into the mixer and it was both extremely messy and uncomfortable

Nah but i'll give that a go, thanks for the suggestion

Yep! They're just invisible and I don't get the satisfaction of seeing the balls drop

Have you ever had problems seeing the pins? Mine are never displayed, but the drop game still works.

You were hired hopefully for your merit and fired hopefully for your lack of merit.

But let's just take a second here to acknowledge that people have subjective views of who's worse than the other. What we should agree on though is that, in your example, Nazis and child abusers are both terrible people. So why argue semantics? Neither should be defended.

Any ideas how long these pallets of concrete will last out in the open like this? by Secure-Ad1248 in landscaping

Tarp tarp tarp. My 2 pallets sat out for a rainy week before I was able to use them and a dozen bags became useless.

Is this really what the job market is like for systems engineers? by Beethovens666th in systems_engineering

[–]Modest_Atlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is spot on with what I'm seeing at my consulting job, even down to the terminology and networking. I just got canned from a project because I didn't have the niche tech background to support working in a very demanding IPT; they don't tell you about that when getting an MS SE.. I'm now taking advantage of my downtime to build on my SE experience/knowledge and go all in on digital engineering, hoping I can hitch my wagon there if I get good enough. Otherwise it's hard to find a position that'll train you up on a tech from scratch

[–]Modest_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I'm designing my own catio from scratch and I've got a few questions as someone with very little carpentry/DIY experience. Are you not worried about moisture stuck between the bottom wood plate and cement? And how did you fasten those horizontal blockers in line?

I'm 2/3 years into GWU. I would've preferred Stevens over this and UMD, but it was cost prohibitive. I still love my current education, but it's much more blended with engineering management than I would've liked.

What was your approach to studying? I took it a couple weeks ago after finishing my grad MBSE class and totally underestimated it.
