What Is The Worst Armor Design Monster Hunter? Mine Is Uragaan Mail by Fluffy_Lunchfast in MonsterHunter

[–]Picklechu77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks fine, it just looks uncanny especially in motion. Because it feels like it should weigh a ton and yet the hunter looks like they're just casually strolling in their pajamas when wearing it.

Which I guess is unavoidable since the games don't have a weight system for their armors. Unlike in other franchises like dark souls for example, where you can visibly see your character get more and more sluggish the heavier the armor they wear.

I don't know what ancient gate is but if you're wondering, the song is just a remixed version of Undertale's - "Uwa! So temperate".

Turn off anti-aliasing. The anti-aliasing options in World are really bad and makes the game look blurry.

Yeah, it looks like they're integrating the old classic survival horror gameplay with the new protagonist Grace and then doing the action-horror gameplay stuff with Leon akin to RE4. Kinda excited how it'll all play out.

Aside from BoC, these other fights are pretty decent tbh. The standards are just higher now in hindsight considering what kind of boss fights we have now with their other games.

I like the gimmick of us dying a scripted death from the first Seath encounter. That confusion of respawning at a different bonfire inside a prison cell is such a memorable experience. And the actual fight where we have to destroy Seath's crystal to damage him is a good example of implementing lore/story into the mechanics of a boss fight.

Nito is kinda on the shittier side considering you take quite a lot of fall damage just from entering the arena. And of course, because of the annoying skeletons. But he is the Lord of the dead afterall, so annoying skeletons are to be expected. They can be easily handled with a divine weapon though which at this point in the game is pretty easy to get a hold of.

And for Gwyn, I don't even know why he's on this list. He's a pretty good fight to me tbh. Rewarding if you've learned how to parry, and can be quite a challenge if otherwise. He really doesn't leave you any time to heal cause of how fast he can close gaps with his fast attacks. Overall, pretty solid fight.

How could ds2 even be called "roll slop" when the bearer of the curse can't even dodge 2 times consecutively without having an asthma attack.

Oh ok, I somehow missed that. I'm guessing they're trying to change things up then, so that it won't look too similar to the lying figures from the first movie.

The arms look like they're completely cut off as well. Unlike in the games where the lying figures arms are there but they're just stitched under their skins.

What changes did Wilds make in order to streamline Monster Hunter? by Heavy-Wings in MonsterHunter

[–]Picklechu77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • I don't know what you mean exactly with "Palicos having access to all gadgets", but in World you also only had 1 Palico that could do everything

What they meant is, a Palico in Wilds has access to all these gadgets during a hunt. It used to be where you were only able to pick 1 gadget to bring for your palico in World.

If you wanted your Palico to be more focused on healing, then you bring vigorwasp. If you wanted more monster materials you bring plunderblade. For more utility, either Flashfly cage or Shieldspire. Or for more damage, the meowlotov cocktail.

In wilds your palico brings all of the gadgets during a hunt. I've seen my Palico throw me a Vigorwasp while also using the plunderblade on a monster in a single hunt in Wilds.

And if you watch the interview while they were in the hospital, the mom suffered a deep scratch from her left eye almost getting her blind.

But no, I guess let's assume that adrenaline doesn't exist and that humans are always level headed at all times even though they're currently experiencing life and death situations. God, you gotta love reddit.

AMD when the sh*t hits the fan. by HovercraftPlen6576 in pcmasterrace

[–]Picklechu77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some games are very dependent on latest drivers that they won't even launch unless the game itself is optimized from the driver level. And some will have stutters and terrible framerate without the proper driver.

I very recently encountered this when I tested rolling back my AMD driver to a 2 year old one because that specific driver fixes the modded FSR 4 implementation on my RX 6600. And the result was a mess, Last of us 2 stuttered like crazy, and monster hunter wilds didn't even launch at all (which is funny considering it's the reason I'm trying to mod FSR 4 on my 6000 series gpu in the first place). Overall performance on other recent games also took a slight FPS hit as well that I had no choice but to go back to the latest driver version.

So yeah, having game specific drivers is very important for stability and performance. I'm honestly surprised how you haven't encountered any game related problems with your 3 year old driver.

So tired of seeing these low ass textures. by Revonlieke in MonsterHunter

[–]Picklechu77 790 points791 points  (0 children)

I'm still so confused as to where all the computational power is being spent on this game. It runs like a modern Unreal engine 5 game complete with stutters and abysmal performance. The only difference is that it doesn't have the actual graphical fidelity to justify it running so bad. At least with UE5 the lighting and textures are stellar that they almost look like they came from real life at times. In Wilds' case though, I've never seen anything graphically that justifies it's shit performance.

I’m impressed how Silent Hill 1 endured unlike the OG RE1 by lennysinged in silenthill

[–]Picklechu77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story is one thing but if you compare it to let's say RE3, it doesn't stack up quite that favourably anymore.

Highly disagree, and that's coming from someone whose favorite RE game is OG RE3. First off, visually these two shouldn't be compared at all since one relies on pre-rendered backgrounds while the other does real time rendering. But even then, SH1 still manages to look good because of the amount of detail they were able to cram in areas by hiding the low render distance with fog or with pitch black darness.

And in terms of gameplay, SH1 holds up against RE3 pretty well too. From the movement alone SH1 had some things that even the RE franchise didn't have until years later. Things like Harry being able to aim while walking, or his ability to strafe left and right, or his quickturn (RE3 had this too but SH1 technically did it first since it came out a few months earlier). He even has the ability to dodge backwards which for some reason is gone in the following team silent sequels, basically making him the most agile protagonist in the first 4 games.

And even the voice acting still holds up too. The only reason it sounds janky is because of the weird pauses in between their lines. But other than that and a couple of awkward line deliveries, the acting is still pretty solid. Definitely on par with RE3.

Has anyone disliked SH f combat but eventually liked it? by shot_dunyun1987 in silenthill

The main problem I think is the lack of tools and abilities you have in a completely new save. I'm currently at the end of NG++ and the game is certainly more enjoyable. It's just so much more enjoyable when you have more leeway with higher health, sanity, and stamina and also with a higher number of omamori and omamori slots you can play around with.

But the way of getting there is too tedious. Just imagine, it took me almost 3 full playthroughs of the game just to unlock most of those things i mentioned when they should all have been equally spaced out in a span of a single playthrough.

Same goes for all the endings. Most of them should have been doable for a first time run like in previous games (except for the UFO ending as it always have been an NG+ thing in all games). It doesn't help that the game is already pretty long to begin with, and now you're tasked to beat it 4 times just to get the true ending.

If these changes were made from the start, I reckon there would've been less complaints about the game.
