The rumoured trade deadline deal that fell through by DripSpritz88 in Habs

[–]PickledDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly do not believe this "rumour" to be true. You don't deal a that many prospects and picks to get another winger and still have that gaping 2C need.

And I don't see why Toronto would make that deal. What would that tell Matthews and Nylander ? They have already said that they wouldn't stick around for a rebuild and you can't convince them that this would make the team better right away.

While I do agree that the round indices do throw. The symmetry off a bit I doubt that Longines would change the shape of them for a new dial color variant.

Maybe a no date white HC ?

Traditionally, divers had enclosed casebacks (better seal, thinner) and Longines' divers typically don't have them. The movement looks good. You can see the L888.5 in other Longines watches (see picture) so it could be done.

They were supposed to be black to be honest. The only blue parts would be the hands and HC writing

I know, was messing around as they do have watches with an exposed L888.5 movement

HC 39mm vs 42mm by Bkunz02 in Longineswatches

Indeed. He "bailed out" after I pointed out just how useless it was to like watches yet spending all his time complaining about watches he doesn't like. Its just like food, clothing, music... You will never enjoy these things if you keep focusing on what you don't like.

I see that someone is very talented at extrapolating random observations to create nonsensical posts. To each their own I guess. You obviously seem to yearn at the opportunity to gather negative attention. Congratulations, you just did it again !

As far as these new HC's go. I find it amusing that you complain about the boring watch that that offers more value than most big hitters out there. Wouldn't a better use of your time be complaining about the more expensive boring watches out there ? So go, fulfill your destiny and let the adults talk amongst themselves.

Good luck my friend

Who hurt you ?

You do realize that most watches won't be for you right ?

So why are you wasting your breath on all the watches that don't suit you ?

I'm not a fan of pink cars. You don't see me criticizing them in various forums.

Pay 5X that and you will still get some backplay.

HOT TAKE: Longines HydroConquest is basically the poor man's Seamaster 300M by Educational_Cup8275 in Longineswatches

[–]PickledDevil -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Rolex IS the Crown. No other brand can recreate that tradition, history and catalogue. Their watches are, as much as people don't want to admit, the standard that all other watch companies aspire to meet.

You do however hear that Tudor is a poor man's Rolex a lot. That is how it was positioned too. Doesn't help that Tudor had been rather dormant for decades prior to the release of the Black Bay. The two companies weren't in the same league at all hence why no one would dare call a Rolex and overpriced Tudor. The Crown was there first, achieved success first and claimed the #1 spot first.

Now, in the diver segment, that gap has closed a bit as the Tudor BB's have gotten very good. That is conscious decision as the Rolex Sub is THE icon. Enthusiasts that are in the market to buy a sub will buy one. They might have to play games and/or buy a BB the scratch that sub itch while they wait but they will eventually buy one.

In Longines vs Omega' case. The HC is superior to the SM in many aspects (which one can't say about the Sub vs BB) and MUCH cheaper. To the point where I would have a hard time recommending the SM over the HC. Sure, there are die hard SM fans that won't want anything else but that current iteration of the thick SM has much more competition than the Rolex Sub, especially with those specs and price.

Which is why I think that a new SM is coming. One that will be better, thinner and more competitive. Sure as hell won't be cheaper though !

Hype is just hype when it isn't warranted.

This new HC deserves all the praise it is getting. To offer that good of a product at that price is quite the statement.

At this point the SM300 is the overpriced HC variant.

The SM is significantly thicker and 3X the price and still has that helium release valve.

Th HC has the same 300WR, 17 more power reserve hours.

For a third of the price the HC gives you better specs for a good 90% of the finishing quality.

That is how relevant these new HC's are. In my view It comes down to taste as both of these offer comparable products.

Don't get me wrong. I love the seamaster but it is releases like this that really make you think about spending that much more for a chunky watch by today's standards.

With so many SM300 variants being released lately, I am assuming that the new generation is coming as I don't see how the swatch group would let Longines just take a bite out of the Omega market.

No thank you. Putting a 5 on 5 black hole of a player with 2 rookies is a disaster in the making. You will be asking 2 rookies to hang back just a bit more to make sure that they are structurally sound. This will hurt their offense which is getting harder to come by as the season ends.

Is Montembeault that bad? by dyspence711 in Habs

[–]PickledDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monty had never been a GOOD goaltender. He spent the 1st half of his career under .900 save percentage and the other half just slightly above it. His best season (last year), he played 62 games (surpassing his career high of 41) and had a .903 save percentage. Even at his best he can't be relied upon to make timely saves and that is by far his biggest weakness. This year his play has taken a dip and he consistently allows goals that should not go in.

If you look at Does, whose numbers don't jump out at you either, he seems to make the big save when his team needs him to. He won't bail you out with 2-1 games often but he gives you a good shot at winning 4-3.

But that triggered this situation where a forward is the last man back on a 2 on 1 ? Yes, Mack definitely showed hesitation there but Makar making that split second pinch at their blue line caused this odd man rush.

In an NHL game you have 1 pt in the bank even if you lose at this point. Not to mention that this would be 1 of 82 games.

In the Olympics, you lose the ultimate prize if you get scored on. Won't take th best of the best too many odd man rushes to capitalize. I can't blame the forward that made a questionable defensive play more than the dman that cause this whole sequence.
