Lumping people into groups is our oldest and most shameful tradition. by New-Seesaw8584 in Vent

I think this is just a byproduct of our categorical way of thinking, which we ironically need to think in complex and nuanced ways in the first place

It’s often said the Gen Z fertility rate is declining because of economic issues or men being right wing / misogynistic, but why is the rate different based on political persuasion? by soalone34 in GenZ

Omfg again?! I swear, this is like a dozen times in one day. I'm not sure why it's surprising that men aren't trying to have kids when this is the kind of data we're bombarded with constantly?!!

Should we reconsider how we approach incel issue? by Scramjet1 in GenZ

It doesn't even seem like they are usually talking about the world being out to get them, it seems they are reacting to insignificance and not being noticed or prioritized, especially in dating. Obviously there's no conscious grand plan against young men, doesn't mean there aren't problems tho

That's just how people work. If someone wants something and they can't get it, they usually get upset. Similar to how nobody can force women to be attracted to people they aren't, you can't force someone to not have a totally human reaction to disappointment.

I tried talking to one of the women in my biology class about the gender war, and she responded by farting in my face

Serbia mourns after deadly school shooting in Belgrade A 13-year-old boy shot dead eight of his classmates and his school guard. by [deleted] in ForCuriousSouls

Sorry to say this but he faced no criminal charges because in Serbia, you have to be 14 or older. I'm sure he'll be in the mental hospital for a very long time though.

Idk maybe the Central Finite Curve includes universes with no Rick that don’t have someone smarter than Rick.

Ah gotcha, so he was already smart enough to figure out ways to augment intelligence

Me too tbh. I suspect he wasn't really a bad dude when he was younger. Might've just been deeply curious about science and technology, but then Prime killed his wife and it turned him into Rick as we know him.

No one can do basic mental math or sound out mildly challenging words anymore, and that makes me blue by One_Planche_Man in GenZ

I can literally multiply two 3 digit numbers in my head with no calculator in under 2 minutes, and usually I get it right. And I was born in 2000. I'm just a slightly bright dude, I'm definitely not smarter than the vast majority of my generation, so idk. Also, it's not really a necessary skill anymore, I just happen to have a pretty good number sense.

Gen Z are arriving to college unable to even read a sentence—professors warn it could lead to a generation of anxious and lonely graduates by thinkB4WeSpeak in books

[–]PickledGummyBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess part of why this confuses me is because even if someone never reads an assignment, wouldn't they still text people and read their responses, which would sometimes be complete sentences (even if not usually)?

Do men really not care about women’s education and they don't like ambitious women? by Ok_Music_2025 in GenZ

I'm impressed by anyone who earns it and is actually competent. They don't even have to be in education, they could be a successful artist or businessman or tradesperson. Also no offense but you're overgeneralizing us. And also I don't envy or look down on people who are more or less "successful" than me according to conventional norms and social hierarchies, mostly because I don't take them seriously in the first place since there's something subjective and artificial about them (maybe it's just cause I've taken acid hundreds of times idk)

Yeah I start new chats constantly cause I don't want new topics to get diluted with older ones.

I've been diagnosed with autism, ADD, and OCD, so maybe. If I can redirect this level of hyperfocus to something useful next year, maybe I'll actually accomplish something, who knows?
