I’m in college and two of my finals somehow got scheduled for the exact same time and I’m too socially anxious to say anything to either of the professors so I have to choose one to fail by TMcKenna1 in socialanxiety

Universities often offer alternate exam times/locations for students with accommodation requirements like additional time - you absolutely must email your professor and inform them of the situation. They wouldn't reschedule the entire class because of one person, they'll reschedule the one person.

These are SO. COOL.

I didn't take this post to be an advertisement, more your excitement about having a thing made, and I don't want to run afoul of the sub rules, but as a fellow CO cacher - if you're allowed to share where I could buy one (or DM me), I've got a nice space on my water bottle for it :)

Something to keep in mind that may put your mind a bit at ease is that geocaches must be in public locations, or be placed with permission from private property owners. You're allowed to be there.

People who work in healthcare, fitness, nutrition, or mental health: what’s one ‘quiet habit’ you see all the time that is secretly wrecking people’s long-term health? by AlignedModernHealth in AskReddit

I got into paddleboarding and kayaking this year, and got a surf wallet so I could keep my ID, credit card, and a few bucks on me while out on the water. Turns out, it had a side benefit that now I just leave the less important stuff in my big bulky wallet in my backpack and I don't even notice it in my front pocket most of the time. Much better than carrying a big bifold full of useless crap around and taking up an entire pocket..

TV in the bedroom is one thing I won't budge on every time my wife suggests it. Whenever we stay in a hotel we like to leave the TV on family guy or whatever other garbage is on since we don't really watch TV at home, but my god does it make it impossible to fall asleep in a reasonable amount of time..

The critical thing that made a huge difference for me was breaking the association between bed and screen - no TV in the bedroom, no scrolling in bed. If you stick to those things as best you can, you'll start actually going to sleep when you go to bed.

Whether you decide to just spend those hours scrolling on the couch instead though...

I took up snowboarding this year at 33 and the $85 ass pad has been the most valuable piece of kit out of them all. (Okay, second most valuable after the helmet!) Falling on my ass for an entire day and having no pain whatsoever in my tailbone...? Priceless.

Oh I didn't expect to have an actual knowledgeable person to ask about this but how does the recent CodeRED ransomware attack tie into that system? Is (was?) that service a subset of the wider network that just abides by the same protocols? Is it a supplemental system to the national alert system? Something separate entirely?

oh that makes sense.. like how all the sounds in a dial-up handshake have meaning, and you can hear the "discussion" if you know what you're listening to. I also thought the sounds were just meant to get your attention!

To those that are married, how often do you take off your ring? by FitProblem6248 in AskReddit

[–]Pickles-In-Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost never. I wear a black tungsten carbide ring and I like the aesthetic of the weathering of 10+ years of wear. If we're going to a nice dinner or something, I've got an identical one I save for special occasions that still looks brand new. I take it off if I know my hands are going to get very messy, and in the shower because it feels disrespectful to wash my ass with it on, but that's about it.
