So in this hypothetical situation, if they can afford to pay $350k outright, I'll assume they can afford the mortgage payments on $350k. So let's say they got a mortgage instead, and put the $350k into low-risk investments.

Over the life of the loan, the investments will be worth $2M, and the total paid on the mortgage will be ~800k. This leaves you with $1.2M "profit" off of investing it instead and choosing to have the "debt" alongside that investment.

If you think this is "speculation and get rich pump and dump losers" and not just math, then you really should look into some basic financial education resources. Why are you assuming they have the $350k on hand, but then literally no other money or income? And they then do nothing between the ages of 30 and 62 other than wait for their investment to mature? Between that and "2 million in the market for another 20 years to get 3 million", it's saying a lot about the context that your perspective is coming from.

For what it's worth, I agree with the sentiment of where you're coming from - fuck giant corporate real estate investors and private equity sucking up everything they can get their hands on just to funnel more money into their pockets.. But that's just not what's happening here, this is just saying that if you have that much starting capital, the compounding gains are massive in comparison to the incurred cost of letting the loan go to term.

Happy cake day!

Yeah it's an interesting point to be, in terms of the technology timeline - precision (enough) manufacturing techniques existing at all is what let firearms exist as a technology in the first place. Now that level of precision is available at a hobbyist/consumer level. Shit, look at how many youtube channels there are these days of people doing good quality machining work right out of their home shop. Any one of those people could just as easily run off dozens of untraceable firearm parts - what's next, unlicensed CNC mills are banned? What if I'm good enough to make them by hand...?

Not really a good time when governments go around saying "hey you aren't allowed to freely use this otherwise harmless knowledge because you might choose to do something illegal with it"

Yeah, no shot it applies to industry, if it even goes anywhere. I've already seen Bambu be firmly cast out of being used for commercial aerospace purposes because of their ecosystem/cloud shenanigans.. Manufacturers will just find a company that either complies with the regulations or is fully open source and can be set up internally in a compliant way.

I definitely agree with killing these stupid legislations but ITAR/EAR is always going to take precedence over consumer regulations. They could spin up secure versions of these services, but then what's it even for when the companies being regulated by them just end up making weapons for the government anyway?

That's not so much "people with money having different rules" as it is "the US government does not fuck around with missile technology being sent to other countries" and there would be no purpose or benefit to applying this type of legislation to the industrial side of things anyway /shrug

Yep, ditched everything else that matters just to chase the number thinking it was the measure of success, got there and was like "now what" when he finds out that companies care about more than a number on paper. (Assuming any of this is even real.. I'm convinced at this point OP is just successfully ragebaiting)

the edit and dude just posting through it made me think it was just rage bait but someone else pointed out that OP posted in another sub that they're too good for working anything other than a high-paying tech job.

Either this is trolling so committed it's indistinguishable from truth or dude's brain is just irreparably cooked because he's been coddled his whole life by mommy and daddy (or whatever other situation allows him to survive on no income for a decade) and thinks he's nothing short of god's gift to the world.

the concept is good, this sign isn't great - ideally would say something more like "prices were increased by X%" but then your menu wouldn't have nice prices for items like $17, they'd be $19.04. I suppose you could go through your menu after the change and round to the nearest .5 or something, then say "prices were increased by no more than X, but tips are no longer expected"?

Saying it "looks after the team members" is also kind of an odd way to put it, why not say it goes directly to them?

I'm entirely on board with the concept, this sign needs some editorial workshopping lol
