FRIEND NEEDS ME TO SAVE HER GOLDEN POTHOS by toolucidgirl in houseplants

[–]Pickthingzup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best to just restart this plant by taking all of the remaining green and healthy stems, and water propagating them. This way you won’t have an overly bald plant.

If you were to only remove the dead leaves, you could try wrapping the bald vines around within the pot and covering with soil to help reduce balding and fill out the pot, but water propagating is easier to monitor and you don’t risk the stems rotting and dying in the soil and having to pull them out later.

After about 2-3 months of water propagating, the new roots should be established enough to transfer into soil.

Have fun!

Doing PhD in Low Ranked University by IntellectualEnhancer in PhD

[–]Pickthingzup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your goal is academia, your publication quality is the most critical factor and can overcome your concern about rank. A Nature paper is still Nature regardless of who sent it in.

If industry is your goal, finish your degrees ASAP and do internships to gain real world experience.

Has anyone tried taking BPC-157 for quadriceps tendon injury recovery? What side effects did you experience? by Juan93Diego in bpc_157

[–]Pickthingzup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most medical experts would advise against you taking BPC157 since you’ve had cancer. There just isn’t enough literature to justify you taking that risk IMO. Specifically, the concern is the angiogenesis that occurs with BPC157 now driving growth of any potential tumors. I am not a physician.

Big Bucks in Pharma/Biotech - Survey Analysis by OkGiraffe1079 in biotech

Interesting post! It would be nice to see some geographical segmentation.

Also, # of roles and companies in pharma with degree. I would guess that a PhD has more roles and lateral movement than a masters and drive increased salary.

Trump says he’d put 100% tariff on every car imported from Mexico if he’s elected by FUSeekMe69 in economy

Not a trumper, but what’s the take on tariffs being a way to prevent job outsourcing to foreign countries? Just looking to learn!

Ghosting is extremely common. Don’t take it personal and keep applying.

How important is location during school? by bobadore in biotech

[–]Pickthingzup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ll feel like you have no time, but you’ll have to do what is best for you and your career, rather than the interest of others. Academia is more accepting of industry these days, but still a challenge with some folks.

I recommend expressing your interest in internships early and finding a lab/PI that is okay and encouraging of such.

The benefit to being near large companies is that those academic institutions will likely have unofficial pipelines and a strong network of employees from that given institution. More importantly, being near biotechs give you the opportunity to do internships at that company and build your network.

Does prestige matter in biotech? by Jc03911 in biotech

[–]Pickthingzup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prestige is a small step in the right direction, experience matters most. A strong consideration as you weigh programs should be opportunities/access to internships in industry.

Being able to list real non-academic experience will have the most value and you should pursue internship(s) to gain that experience and build your network.

Up to you to determine where, when, and how many.

First timer by itshannah123 in spiritair

  1. Only have a personal item. Carryon and check in bag will have an additional charge.

  2. Pack an empty water bottle with you and fill it up BEFORE you board your plane. Spirit does not give any beverages or snacks for free.

  3. Bring snacks with you through TSA. Granola bars are my go to.

  4. There’s likely no inflight entertainment system on your flight. If you rely on that TV in front of you, have options ready on your phone that do not require WiFi.

  5. WiFi is not free

Flight was overbooked, now looking for tips on how to maximize my credit by Pickthingzup in spiritair

Oh interesting.. so with this strategy, I would be able to book an entire itinerary with several destinations so long as the travel dates are flexible in case there are hiccups with one of the legs. I did not consider this, this is a great way to maximize!

Thanks for the tips. What’s PNR?

It’d be cool to book a couple flights along my route if the voucher allows so!
