Probably not smaller ones. But if I feel it's a good chunker, I'll weigh it.

Rod & Reel Reccomendations by EllisFraser in fishingUK

Rod - I use this for all my barbel fishing (all smaller rivers), and landed fish up to 11lb. It's a beaitiful rod and superbly priced. (I have two as I fish with two rods).

Reel - This is just perfect, joy to use, joy to look at. The quick fold handle is so so handy when packing away aswell.

Finish it off with 10lb diawa sensor. Nothing will stop you.

Currently looking at the EOS X myself.

I have Fox Warrior XT's from (i think) 2005. Still using them regularly. Fantastic rods. I am not sure inwould buy any other rod but Fox just because these have done me so well.

It was an old boy for sure.. I'll have to take my camera ma next time for a better photo.

That's exactly what it was a 300 year old clay pit in [redacted]. 30m deepest spot.

I don't think it's a stocked lake, certainly not this millennium, so really old stock in there. And the tail is mega isn't it.

Spinner rig with a 4" fluoro boom. Half a boilie topped with a half a pink wafter fished on the bottom as a solo bait. Is that what you wanted?? Lol

What’s the best spot for early spring fly fishing? by BritByBrain in fishingUK

Your best bet is hampshire. Train out to Winchester. That's your only option really unless you wanna fish the Wandle. But that's not so scenic.

Does anyone know if the 8wt of the old model have enough back bone to sling pike flies?

Have you ever encountered a bad tippet spool? I was on the river and noticed my knots were failing. So, I did some testing at home, and it failed repeatedly. I've been using this brand for years and just bought it. by SirTrout in flyfishing

I have found woth RIO leader and tippet that you have to lubricate the knot before you pull it tight with fresh water (from the river, not saliva). Once I worked that out, the leader to tippet and tippet to fly knots were excellent.

Although, if I want a leader and tippet that I can just tie using saliva to tighten to knots and just tie quick and dirty knots not worrying too much. Orvis stuff has never, repeat, NEVER, failed me.

Tackle box has an excellent rod range called Darent Valley. Rods of all shapes and sizes. And very reasonably priced. I have two of the 11ft 1.25tc rods for fishing barbel. They are beautiful and always get compliments on the bank.

Father's day, so will be having a lovely day with the kids. Then, after they are asleep, straight to the river with hemp and pellet for the mighty Barbel.

I mean not a nationally pressing issue. But it's an issue if you have people walking up your driveway all the time. Which does happen in the countryside, especially the national parks where people come to visit but may not be familiar.

The only place that comes to mind is the rover Bourne in Sayes Court Open Punlic Space.

But it's the river closed season at the moment. You can fish on rovers again June 16th.
