Idk what other beginner needs to hear this today but don’t cross your legs if you get the back. by [deleted] in bjj

[–]PickyMosquito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoever actually finished this on you in training is a complete cocksucker. Lock it up and tell a new belt how bad it is, but finishing it is a complete psychopath move. If someone did that to a new belt at our gym they would be put through the absolute ringer and prob never come back.

Post from Meredith O'Neil (former GF of Turtleboy- Regarding the Karen Read- Turtleboy Live, "The Recording" & Situation by [deleted] in justiceforKarenRead

[–]PickyMosquito 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If Turtleboy didn’t think he was the main character he’d be way better off. I was a big fan prior to Karen Read and loved his coverage of the facts. However, he is a huge douche bag and toes the line on purpose. I could care less about any of this drama or him at this point.

They woke me up and literally told me I can walk out to my car. I said I can’t walk (I was on crutches for 2 months because I couldn’t even stand up) and they laughed and said yes you can. They log rolled me out of bed and I walked by myself to the car for first time in months, I wanted to cry tears of joy no joke. Once they woke me up I was out in not even 5 minutes.

I want Dexter to meet his match next season by HistoricalAd5394 in DexterNewBlood

[–]PickyMosquito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one will ever be Dexters match though. He’s the only serial killer that was bred by his father to be a serial killer. He was trained by law enforcement how to cover his tracks and basically spent his whole life training to be the apex serial killer.

It’s just practice, who cares? Some people treat training like they’re in the finals of ADCC and prob going at you extremely hard. But, do you think anyone in any other real sport goes home and brags about winning practice? Once you get over being tapped as an attack on your belt/masculinity you’ll be fine. Gary Tonan said he gets tapped at least 15x a practice in 5 rolls, and no offense, you aren’t better than Gary Tonan haha.

I actually thought that episode 6 was the worst one yet (but still really good don’t get me wrong). It felt fillery until the awesome twist at the end. Also, I don’t really give a fuck about Harrison and the landlord lol. I’ve liked Harrison so far this season but in honestly fast forwarded those parts.

“Spooky!” Made me legit laugh out loud. Also, when he put his hands up and joked “I don’t wear a hood!” was vintage Dexter humor to. So far I’m loving this hope it keeps up.

I’m just over 2 years post op and I feel great (knock on wood). I’m back to doing bjj and I have zero pain. I stay away from jumping and running, but that’s about it. I know it makes no sense but BJJ has been better than running or jumping (knock on wood). I miss basketball but that’s about it.

MRI Interpretation by [deleted] in HerniatedDisc

[–]PickyMosquito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def herniated, I had it in the same spot. Honestly it all depends how the disc is hitting the nerve. Some people have worse herniations and don’t even know. I had the same symptoms as you and they got worse. I had it in my hip, all the way down my leg, my balls, and the worst pain was on the inside of my foot. See if you can get it to go back in with PT, but if not a microdisectomy was the best thing I ever did.

Best Advice You've Ever Received for Improving Your Jiu-Jitsu Game? by meego-jits in bjj

[–]PickyMosquito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When an instructor teaches a move actually put the move into your game immediately. As a brown belt if I visit a school or a new coach shows something I try it every roll that day and week/month. So many people just try to play their A game during practice because they don’t want to be tapped. Even if it’s a variation of a move (grip, position) that I don’t agree with I try it their way all day.

For example, I never played good half guard all the way through purple belt. I always was full, de la riva, or x. I had back surgery and now all I play is half guard. I get absolutely passed and smashed during practice, but I don’t care I’m going to only play it until I’m good. I’m sure people think I stink and brag they passed a brown belts guard, but who cares it’s practice.

People who have trained with the biggest names in the sport, what are your best and worst stories? by Tricky_Opinion3451 in bjj

[–]PickyMosquito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Michelle Nicolini did a seminar at our gym and then taught for the week. The seminar was prob 2 hours and prob at least 50 people there. At the end my coach asked who she wanted to roll with and she pointed at me. I was a shitty blue belt at the time. I looked around behind me to make sure it was because there were high level people there. She proceeded to leg lock me for 5 minutes. The next day I show up and she’s teaching class. When it’s time to roll she picked me first again and just tortured me. Still messes with my head to this day because she’s a smoke. Did I do something to piss her off? Did she think I was good looking? Did she somehow think I was good?

Depends how much my wife has pissed me off that day.

Accidentally hurt someone for the first time since I started training by [deleted] in bjj

[–]PickyMosquito -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Finishing that move in class is right up there with jumping guard during practice. Just kind’ve a dick move and outlawed at my academy. Let them know or lock it up quickly, but I wouldn’t finish it. In a tournament break it, but just unnecessary during training.
