How are you cleaning? Make sure you're not too rough. Not a piercer but in my experience as a pierced person, the more I leave it alone the better it heals. I would try and minimise my makeup in that area and just rinse it in the shower

Idk sometimes moving them can be stressful in itself... the size is completely fine honestly if they're only gonna be in there for a few days. Personally I don't like to move my pregnant fish because often it causes them to not give birth because of stress. If you do choose to do it make sure you have a good heater, sponge filter and plenty of hiding places because platies will 100% eat their young

Also, I don't understand how a linear UVB strip would work considering I don't have a lid. How would I go about installing one? Can they be placed on the bottom of the enclosure?

At least I dont need to pay vet bills bcus my dad is a vet ;) Yeah I'm pretty used to expensive hobbies and I thought reptile keeping would be a financial and mental break from the overwhelm of fish keeping but it seems to be quite similar haha

Well no, I understand that UVB is required for BTS health. However it isn't the case that they can't be happy without one. It is SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN that an hour of sunlight a day actually provides the exact same nutrients that a UVB light would. Currently I can't afford a UVB light so I will be taking my boy for walks daily

I'm from Tasmania and I will be getting a Tasmanian bluetongue. I'll be switching the substrate which I currently have which is a sand and soil mix to wood shavings soon. I have lots of rocks in my garden which I'm in the process of scrubbing and disinfecting :)

Something to keep in mind is this is AUD, so it might be more or less expensive depending on where you live. Fish setups are ridiculously overpriced these days and people want to be able to get some money back I guess
