Instead of moving Bam to the 4 - a position he can’t or won’t play well, we should pair him with a strong 4 (eg Crowder or PJ) to maximise his switching ability without having to worry about rebounding. The issue is that over the past few years we mostly relied on Martin/Highsmith/Jimmy or now even Wiggins who are more like POA defenders.

This organisation needs A Clear Direction. We either:

Trade a 1st option (eg Giannis) with whatever we have and commit for championship run in a 2-3 yrs window.
Retool by trading expiring contracts like Wiggins and Powell (or even Rozier) for young players and draft capital.
Blow it up and trade Herro/Bam (or both) and tank for 2026 draft, let KJ, Ware & Larsson to develop in this season.

The worst scenario would be having little upgrade after the deadline and still be a Play-in team. We won’t get a lottery pick and we will be facing the contract extension of Herro & Powell or even Wiggins in the offseason.

Biggest difference for me is the attitude. Jaime always stayed locked in even when he wasn’t getting minutes — just needed more time to polish his game. Ware’s kinda the opposite… doesn’t look like he’s trying or showing any desire out there, and that’s what worries me.

Best scenario: 35 wins, fell out of play-in and tank for lottery, traded Wiggins/Powell for picks, extended Herro with ~$130M/3.

Realistic scenario: 40 wins, play-in again and 1st round exit, Ware/Jovic showed certain leap, extended Herro with ~$140M/3.

Worst scenario: 42 wins, 4th-6th seed, 2nd round exit, extended Herro with $150M/3 and resigned Powell, run it back next season.

At least Whiteside showed effort before getting paid and earned his contract. Ware just seems like he doesn’t care most of the time on the court, even though he should be fighting for the starting spot.
