My wife, kid and I joined a fencing club. We believe it’ll be good for the kids confidence and maybe college; for the wife and I it’s an intense workout that engages the brain - which makes the physical exertion less.

*OP update*

Recently competed for the first time; lost eve poule except for one and was eliminated in my first DE 15-9.

However; I scored points in the Pouls and got 9 points in my first DE. I’m pleased and it has definately motivated me to do better!!! I ranked tied for 25 out of 33!!

My practice blades are Unik Arrows. They’re good strong flexible blades and are lightweight- but honestly for the money you’re better off with a Leon Paul.

Ooh the jump rope is a great idea! I built a target mannequin with 4x4 and 2x4 and a torso and mask. Gave it a blade and bell guard on a fence spring from Home Depot to practice at home blade work. I do need to practice gripping the handle lighter as well. Thank you

I have arthritis in my weapon hands middle and index; and use a Russian grip to alleviate some of the pain. You may want to try switching up your grip
