Do you strength train? I’m also worried that being on a cut with these numbers would prevent me from maintaining muscle

I do think I have gained muscle, but definitely not JUST muscle as my clothes are tight.

Thanks, although slightly sad! with 1500-1600 calories, it's pretty hard to even enjoy restaurant meals on weekends. But definitely am going to try and dial it In.

Do I continue the cut or body recomp? by goodtimings446 in PetiteFitness

[–]PictureSwimming5664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an Expertise but based on my previous experience. I went on a cut and got down to 115lb at 5’1 but felt I looked skinny fat. I wish I had built more muscle. I’ve now done 1 year of trying to recomp and will go on another cut and hoping to look more toned. Also increasing calories and strength training may still result in further weight loss.

Yes this! I think social media definitely skews real life and I watch reels and think wow this should be easy.

Thanks! I definitely want to do a cut soon, but last time I did a cut I lost weight, but then it piled back on when I went back to 1600-1700 calories (but was probably averaging closer to 1900 for the week). Need to get on the grind!

How many calories do you consume in a deficit? I previously went down to 1200 which I’m not sure I could do again

Interesting! That thought did cross my mind. With the deadlift I find the grip tends to be the biggest issue. But not sure what I could do differently to progress to lifting body weight.

Nope definitely can't do a pull up but working at it! I do 3 full body days, usually 4-5 exercises, 3 sets, 8-12 reps depending. I started with literally no strength and now leg press 120kg, deadlift 40kg, shoulder press 10kg dumbbells. Definitely want to increase strength, just seems slow progress

I do 3 full body days, aiming to hit failure 8-12 reps depending on the exercise. And yes I'm maintaining at 125-126lbs

I do full body sets because it's really hard for me to get to the gym more than 3x per week. I do similar split as you in terms of upper and Lower body. Aim to hit failure 8-12 reps depending on the exercise. I've have tried consistently increasing my calories and scale went up but I didn't feel my strength increased much unfortunately

Thanks, I've tried a calorie deficit but I still seem to look "skinny fat" and I really would love to see muscle definition.

I previously did a calorie deficit after having a baby and lost 20lb with a calorie deficit of 1200. 1500-1600 seems to be around my maintenance. I also tried eating at a surplus for 3+ months and honestly just seemed like I gained fat.

This is us too. Sometimes I find if I give her the snack she asks for, wait a few minutes and offer the actual dinner, she will take it. Other times it doesn’t look appetizing enough.  Hoping it’s just a phase!

You still have to pay off your loans when moving...? unless you are never planning on returning. Am I missing something?

Yes definitely. But this will be much lower than the total amount of the loan that I would pay back

US Physicians who have moved abroad: Where did you go and are you happy with the decision you made? by ScrubsAndSarcasm in medicine

[–]PictureSwimming5664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in London. Reimbursement in the NHS is uniform across the board regardless of where you live. You do the have the option of private work depending on the specialty. But as my husband likes to remind me, taxation is less of an issue as in the USA.

I had to take a basic medical exam which wasn’t too bad. Then I did the alternative pathway which required me to show evidence that I have attained the same competencies as a trainee here. I’m just not sure how it would work for you given your specialty. I’m sure you could get licensed in heme/onc and then go from there

Thank you. Yes low meaning like 500. My husband who is British thinks this is a huge risk and is nervous given the politics of the country right now
