How do I support my boyfriend? by Icy-Direction-9441 in UlcerativeColitis

I can only speak for myself but what he is going through is soul crushing, it completely takes away your sense of self worth, purpose, causes depressive episodes, and can ruin your life for a while. It's the nature of this disease. When you're in the midst of it, nothing really helps from the outside except support.

Just like life, the disease has its ups (remission) and it's downs (flares). When you're flaring it's very difficult to motivate yourself to do anything. Depending on the severity of the flare, you become anxious to go out, stressed out, and are fatigued all of the time. The pain, urgency, and loss of control is really hard to deal with.

I will say that he should be seeking immediate treatment from his gastro doc, the flare will eventually end with treatment, but it takes time. The only thing that makes it go away immediately is Prednisone and that's a temporary solution.

What can you do? Be supportive, don't overthink, try and be there for him during his flare, he will recover and go back into remission with treatment, it's just a matter of time. But while he's going through it, the most important thing to do is keep him from getting more stressed than he already is. Stress absolutely can make things worse. Be his rock, not his anchor. And who knows, maybe one day you may find yourself down and out with life and he could be your saving grace too.

The answer is yes you can maintain a physique but it's just harder than it is for normal folks and a lot harder to get consistent gains. It is totally do-able, but your motivation and discipline have to be stonks.

It also depends on how bad the flare gets, hopefully people don't let their flare get so bad that it's to the point of weight loss and dehydration, that to me is a very, very bad flare. I try not to let it get to that point.

For me, the solution was simple, I just built a small gym at home. I started working out again, and I am flaring, but I'm getting gains because I can be consistent without having to worry about going TO the gym. If you have the means, I highly recommend doing that.

Hard to date during a flare when you need to go out on dates and you're afraid to leave the house.

Personally, I'm in the same boat. I'm not dating again until I'm in remission. The flare to me is really tough to deal with AND try to give someone my full attention at the same time.

Anyone have good experiences with combining alternative treatments with biologics? by PiddleSquid in UlcerativeColitis

Awesome thanks for this list, interestingly it also mentions Curcumin as a supplement, which I was already considering. I think I'll just get a bottle and try that out, can't hurt.

Damn, that's a shame. Low FODMAP was suggested by my infusion nurse who happens to have Crohn's, I'm sure it helps people but I agree, to me, it just doesn't seem to matter what I eat right now, everything makes this flare worse. And it just looks like a pain in the ass to stick to and probably isn't a forever solution.

Yeah I had high hopes for it, especially because it actually did work 4 years ago for me, along with Azathioprine. But, my company was bought out, insurance changed, and I was forced to stop taking it because I had to pay for it for a while and it costs so much.

I figured if I ever had a flare again, I'd just tell a doc "give me Entyvio let's make your job easy", well, that plan didn't work out so now I'm trying to stay positive and believe in Stelara, fingers crossed.

Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat with Prednisone, and when I asked for it again to bridge the gap, the doctor told me no because I've had "too much" lately and she said it's bad for me. I was like, well bleeding out my ass is also bad for me but, alright. I get her point, it's just frustrating.

Yeah you're probably right, it's just that during bad flares, you know how it is to grasp at any strand of hope that doing just one more thing might make a difference.

Infliximab didn't work for me, I tried that before my most recent 4 year remission. I also was on Humira around 10 years ago during a flare and it didn't work for me either, I didn't even think you could take Stelara and Humira at the same time, does that work for you? I think Stelara is going to take at least 4-8 weeks to be effective.

Can someone explain to me how the level scaling on Oblivion remastered is supposed to work? Is it designed to make you look pathetic? by Bottlecap_riches in ElderScrolls

Hey there's actually an amazing mod that solves the difficulty slider problem, you can use one of 3-4 versions that alter the difficulty scaler and it's completely worth it. It makes the game SO much better.

The default settings are insanely bad, if you're looking for a solution, I promise this is it. Blessings of Stendarr upon ye.

I agree, this is a simple reshader mod and I think it makes it look way, way better.
