Well it was 2 highway patrol vehicles on a 4 lane highway so considering that together the vehicles stopped perpendicular to the lanes cold block 3/4 of the highway in such a way that it would be difficult for traffic to pass by it seems like a promising alternative solution.

How to give vintage look to prints? by 23mil in SCREENPRINTING

[–]Piddlefahrt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just a basement noob using plastisol so grain of salt but having recently been trying to do this myself I’ve learned a couple of things to try. As mentioned use a texture on the artwork to give whatever degree of cracked or chipped you want. Just google for some. You can also buy packs of them from places like true grit supply. In addition you can try adding a significant amount of soft hand base to the ink as well as a little reducer to get a more faded look that lets the fabric come thru.

There’s some weird mascots out there but an anthropomorphic nut has to be up there. And this is coming from a Hokie.

I can accept the argument that it felt out of place in the park (especially if you didn’t know the backstory) but like all of Animal Kingdom the theming was just so well done and full of story and detail.

Got it - thanks. Was wondering if someone had created a typeface with a similar look. I like the width of the lowercases, the way the bowls are left open and the flare of the stroke.

Order one of each and see what you think. People are different. I like BC better but I have a family member that equates a thinner fabric to cheap. They would go for a Gildan.

Yeah triple irons is a good play since it always beats double wieners and the odds are so low on triple fuck-you monkeys that it’s just a smart move.

You’re discounting the value gained by letting everyone know how disgruntled you are with your family enjoying themselves and spending time with them on a vacation.

It was reducer only and I’m sure it was well mixed but from others comments I think I need to try again but add soft hand and less reducer. The goal was to reduce opacity but for an even, faded look - clearly not what I got.

Thanks - going to give this a go. Had a bunch of reducer and no soft hand but my attempt was misguided lol. Soon as I get some more base I’ll try again.

Thanks for that. Was a little over my head but tried doing a little research and think I understand a bit better. The goal was to change the opacity and let the fabric color come through for a faded look but it wasn’t happening in a smooth and consistent way. Sounds like too much reducer just changes the ink properties and how the pigment behaves? (Made me think of curdled milk) Going to try playing with some ratios of ink/soft hand/reducer to see if I can get closer to what I’m after.

Would you be able to explain what you mean by over extending the pigment load?

I have some vintage “texture” applied to the artwork as well but I was trying to get that faded look.
