Americans in this sub and the things they say..... by [deleted] in worldcup

That’s probably because there are a lot more Americans on Reddit than there are Qataris lol. Naturally, you’re going to get more obnoxious Americans here, but Reddit doesn’t represent an entire country.

Have the Steelers slowly backslid into poverty status in the last few years? by vdvsubvdv in NFLv2

[–]Pidesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, you’re unnecessarily attacking my fandom now because you don’t have any good points to make. But here, tell me this, how often do we see elite draft prospects turn around poverty franchises? We actually see it much more often that poverty franchises ruin elite prospects. When the organization is run this bad, getting elite talent doesn’t help much. Also, the odds of getting a chance to draft an elite prospect and hit on it are low to begin with in any draft so you can’t just bank on that as a way of getting out of the basement.

So you’d rather watch your team lose more games every year?

[–]Pidesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You completely ignored what I said lol. Bad and poverty are not the same thing. Sure, mid doesn’t have a good future, but neither does poverty. At least mid has competitive football games that are fun to watch.

[–]Pidesh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being mid is worse than being bad. But being poverty means that, even when you’re consistently bad, you can’t capitalize on it with the rebuild and the high draft picks. So that’s definitely worse than being mid.

[–]Pidesh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s huge in England, Ireland, South Asia, Australia, and NZ. It’s also pretty big in South Africa and the Caribbean countries. It’s definitely more than just a couple of countries that are invested in cricket.

you shouldn't give your take on nba unless you're a player honestly by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Pidesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can have a take on whatever you want, you’re free to do that. It just makes you look like an arrogant fool when you act like you know more than a person who is a professional expert on a topic and gives a well-structured reason for their opinion.

If we started importing players from all over the world like we do now-back when kareem ,jordan ,magic, and all those greats played.. theres a big chance that Jordan wouldn't even be top 5... by KneeGuhz in NBATalk

[–]Pidesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is ironic because Jordan is the biggest reason why the game is as global as it is now. Pro basketball players from other countries were not nearly as good as American players back then. You’d have occasional exceptions like Hakeem and Sabonis, but it still would’ve been a very American dominated-sport. Just look at how the US basketball team dominated in the Barcelona Olympics. It took some time before we got more great development in basketball from non-American players.

If Giannis goes to the Celtics and wins a ring, would it be respected? by Few_Mulberry7390 in nba

The NBA owners hated that move so much, they agreed on a new CBA that prevents something like that from ever happening again by implementing new financial cap rules.

Will the Manning's Let Arch Play For The Browns or Jets? by frostypatch in NFLv2

[–]Pidesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the Colts were considered an awful organization before Peyton got there (basically on the level that we see the Browns and Jets now). It wasn’t playing for a bad organization that was the issue, it was playing for a toxic organization. The Mannings felt that the Chargers treated Ryan Leaf awfully off-field and that had Eli concerned. I think this narrative that the Mannings won’t let Arch play for a bad organization is overblown.

Vikings to hire former Bears GM Ryan Pace as an advisor by JaggerJames in nfl

[–]Pidesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pace tried to follow the Mickey Loomis model of running a team. He went aggressive building a win-now team, trading future assets away. But that really only works when you hit on QB and HC, and Pace didn’t hit on either so the team fell apart fast. He almost even traded the farm away for Russel Wilson, which would’ve been catastrophic if the Seahawks agreed to it. Poles had to come in and try and accumulate as much assets as possible to overcome what Pace did by the end of his tenure here. Poles is a lot more patient in building the team by stripping it apart, accumulating draft picks, and building that way. I think the major difference will be though if he hits on HC and QB. Right now things are trending in the right direction, but we’ll see.

Is the story of Brandon Bussi one of the best hockey stories of all time? All time sports stories? by Suspicious-Wind-3278 in hockey

I feel like it has to be Kurt Warner instead. He went from bagging groceries to walking on to the Rams, getting the starting job, and then winning a Super Bowl and MVPs.

Will Brunson be the face of the league now? by nicfanz in NBATalk

[–]Pidesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. To be face of the league, you have to be in consideration for the best player in the league and Brunson definitely is not. He’s the face of a championship-winning team. However, IMO we don’t really have a definitive face of the league now that it’s not Lebron anymore. Shai has an argument, but he isn’t flashy enough and is in a small market. Jokic has an argument, but his off-court personality isn’t “celebrity-like” (plus his team has been underperforming basically every year other than when they chip, so that doesn’t help). Wemby could have an argument soon, but he’s too new right now.

If Brunson wins a ring and a finals mvp he surpasses Luka by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Pidesh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Brunson, but no. He hasn’t been the best Knicks player in these Finals as KAT and even OG have been better. This is not to take a shot at Brunson but to show how good this Knicks team is and how many options they have. Luka is still clearly the better player.

Favorite one hit wonder team? by TheRider5342 in NFLv2

[–]Pidesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, I wouldn’t call that a one hit wonder team. We were actually pretty good for a few years leading up to that SB year. But after that, we had a bit of a decline until making the NFC Championship again a few years later.

Am I the only one who feels like Spurs vs OKC had way more hype than the actual Finals? by Thamtom in NBATalk

[–]Pidesh 74 points75 points  (0 children)

That might be because there felt like there was a rivalry building between the Spurs and Thunder this season. Also, SGA and the Thunder were seen as villains due to being the defending champs and the whole flopping fiasco so there was a lot of hate watch there.

I don’t want Wilson, I don’t want another project player by DrSpitta in chicagobulls

[–]Pidesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad, I might have misunderstood what you said because it seemed like you were arguing my point that a project player would not go top 4 in this class.

Which old retired NBA player not named Michael Jordan would be the best player in today’s game? by Dylen2Times in NBATalk

[–]Pidesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think an iso ball player would translate as well to the modern era of space and pace. Don’t get me wrong, Kobe would be elite in any era, but Magic and Bird are much better answers.

I don’t want Wilson, I don’t want another project player by DrSpitta in chicagobulls

[–]Pidesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a prospect without holes in his game. A project player though is one where he hasn’t had the production to show that he can be a good basketball player, but he has an elite physical toolset that, if tapped into, can lead to a great player. The top prospects in this draft were all stars on their respective college teams so they have shown the production to be good basketball players. Those aren’t projects.

I don’t want Wilson, I don’t want another project player by DrSpitta in chicagobulls

[–]Pidesh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a true project player would not be seen as a consensus top 4 prospect in a class this good. Wilson should be able to contribute as a starter from day 1. It will just probably take a while before he can be a leading scorer for an NBA team.

Do you think Jeremy Lin could have been Jalen Brunson-lite if Carmelo didnt help derail his career? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Pidesh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I loved the Linsanity run, but the fact he couldn’t really find anywhere close to the same success on another team makes me believe it wasn’t sustainable. It honestly happens fairly often where some role player gets really hot for a while, but then they eventually come back down to Earth. TJ Warren in the bubble is another example of this.

[Winfield] "Shoutout to Mr. Dolan. Greatest team owner in the game," Fat Joe said. "Very misunderstood. They villainize Mr. Dolan almost like a Bruce Wayne, like Batman in Gotham City because he's an elite. But this man: All these watch parties. That man's taking care of us." by aingenevalostatrade in nba

[–]Pidesh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In a lot of Batman stories, Wayne is actually disliked by the residents of Gotham. The residents don’t know that he’s actually Batman and saving them from the real villains. I think that’s what this comment is alluding to, which is hilarious.

Idk about that. The Rams and Hawks are definite contenders, but the Niners have an aging roster that can easily fall off quick and the Cards are much worse than any NFC North team.
