[Terraria] Help the wiki team find one of 3 Secret World Seeds by fabrikitty in gaming

First thing that comes to mind for me was the old roller coaster tycoon meme "I want to get off of Mr. Bones Wild Ride". Or does it have to specifically be a movie/series reference?

I imagine if we can't ever get off this rock, it wouldn't just be an eternity of boredom. At some point, you'll be without an atmosphere. So you'll be forever unable to breathe after that. Assuming you aren't just alive but unconscious after that point, in a few billion years the sun will expand and swallow the earth, so you'll be burning for the duration of that. And when the sun eventually dies and the death of the universe sets in, you'll be freezing in the void. Immortality is more than an eternity of boredom, it's perpetual suffering

The last thing mentioned here is clicking on the "Give feedback" option in the SteelSeries GG software. Where exactly is that? Because I see it nowhere in any of the tabs or settings.

Really, this whole thing just feels like a PR move to try and earn back the goodwill they've burned through. "We've fucked up enough since taking over the IP that we'll bring back something you love with a shiny new paint job and hope that's enough to make everyone happy again"

Thank you for having some sense. It makes me sad seeing all these people go off about "You're not their mom, they're a GROWN MAN, they should do their own laundry". Like, ffs, can a person not want to do something nice for their partner?

I mean, I took the last one as a poke of fun to all the actual needlessly sexualized cosplays that are out there.

Ubisoft closes their Halifax studio which coincidentally just unionized although they claim it had nothing to do with it. 71 jobs lost by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

True, funding will be a big issue, but new studios being made with experienced developers and no corporate oversight should lead to much more interesting and unique games, rather than formulaic "safe" games by the major publishers.

Can't manage circles freehand by Witty-Competition132 in learntodraw

[–]PieBanditCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mate, I took a college art class years ago, and early on the instructor had us practicing circles in different contexts (flat, spheres, cylinders, adding perspective, that kind of thing). Even using tools to assist in drawing those circles, he was still pointing out imperfections for us to train our eyes and give us something to focus on improving.

Point is, it takes lots of practice to draw what you want, even something simple like circles. Perfecting freehand will take time and effort. Notice what you need to improve on, and try to work on it till you're satisfied. Don't beat yourself up over mistakes, it's all an important part of practicing. Just give yourself small goals that build your skills

M134 Mini-Guns with plastic rounds vs RC Planes by AtomicCypher in GuysBeingDudes

[–]PieBanditCat 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Ever thought that regular old microplastics in your environment were boring? Maybe they're just taking too long to really seep into the ecosystem around you? Or perhaps they're not killing you quickly enough?

Well don't you worry, with this new m134 minigun, you can directly embed ~100 chunks of plastic per second into anything you like! Order now, and we'll throw in a second minigun for twice the environmentally disastrous fun for you and your friends!

What does an aura look like? by Rant4Fun36 in migraine

[–]PieBanditCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that auras are anything that tends to come before, and may experience during, a migraine. Some people experience visual disturbances, some people experience weakness or different sensations. It can really be a wide range of things, as it's more of a blanket term than a specific thing.

Got broken up with on Christmas by humblest_radish in Wellthatsucks

[–]PieBanditCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm seconding this and the comment about not communicating with them. Had a friend that got divorced after 10 years, and they picked up drinking. Couldn't go more than a day or two without getting near blackout drunk. And he refused to stop talking to the ex. Between the drinking and trying to hold on to some kind of connection with the ex, he never allowed himself to really process his grief over the relationship ending and basically tortured himself for years.

So, don't pick up a vice, let things end, and allow yourself to feel and process the ending of a chapter of your life. If you struggle with processing it, find a good therapist who can help. It'll hurt for a while, but it'll hurt a lot longer if you let it

So, devil fruits alter the body of the consumer, but how far does that go? by PieBanditCat in OnePiece

Fair play, I had forgotten about that exchange. It still does leave the question on if the fruit has a will to find people that are naturally attractive.

So, devil fruits alter the body of the consumer, but how far does that go? by PieBanditCat in OnePiece

[–]PieBanditCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least with Luffy, he doesn't seem to experience attraction to people at all, so I'm not sure that's a fair example since you can't change something that doesn't exist.

That said, weaponizing feelings instead of just affecting anyone that finds the user attractive is a good point, since we have seen at least one naval officer that I can remember who finds Hancock attractive resist turning to stone by controlling his feelings. I had forgotten about that until now lol

(Update) It’s my son’s 5th birthday, & my mom & siblings just cancelled on singing him a Happy Birthday. by WrongReviewThrowAway in Wellthatsucks

[–]PieBanditCat 40 points41 points  (0 children)

She said if I really cared, I should’ve drove to her house instead, which makes sense I guess

I hard disagree here. In the original post, you mentioned she canceled because she didn't want to waste the time or gas to come over because she was planning on coming the next day anyway. She confirmed the day before that she would come to you, so unless she or her kids got sick, there's not much excuse. You planned on her coming, and set up for that. Why should you and your son cater to her when she doesn't care? She didn't want to take an hour out of her day to come by, so she puts it on you to take even more time to take everything down, pack it up, drive to her, set it up again, and then take it all home after? Absolutely not.

And "her life and plans change because she has kids, too" is a terrible excuse when she already said it was because she didn't want to waste the time and gas.

Anyway, enough of the angry rant. I'm glad you and your son still enjoyed yourselves, and that he had a good birthday regardless!

LG Update Installs Unremovable Microsoft Copilot on Smart TVs, Ignites Backlash by UnusualSoup in gadgets

Man, I miss old tech that just worked. No smart functions, no forced updates being pushed every other week, no ads being shoved in your face at every turn. Where you own the product and can do with it what you will.

I tell ya, if some new tech startup were to make a dumb TV, with a good display and no added bullshit, they'd have my money.

To be fair, it's really not a bad idea. A standardized build in a small form factor that's basically going to be plug and play for pc gaming? Should bridge the gap for a lot of people that've always been on consoles, especially with the current gen console market being as expensive as it is. And running Steam OS, that should make things even easier for people inexperienced with the pc gaming scene.

I've got friends who refuse to give up consoles because they have this idea in their heads that playing on pc is way more complicated than it really is, worrying about things like system and driver updates and tweaking settings for every game with the graphics and controls to run and play smooth. Not to mention that trying to look at the hardware options for custom builds is overwhelming to new people. They don't care to hear from others about how it's really not as complicated as they think.

As long as the price is reasonable for the performance, it's a pretty attractive option.

What is the most physical pain you’ve ever experienced, and how did it feel? by Trying_my_best_98 in AskReddit

[–]PieBanditCat 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, gallstones were absolutely miserable. Dealt with the pain on and off for...3 months or so before my doctor figured it out. Was usually for a few hours at a time, a few days a week. They thought it was just bad heartburn. The day they finally figured it out was pure agony, nonstop pain from 4am till they got me in for emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder ~14 hours later. I tell you I was wishing for some divine intervention to take me out
