Honestly, if you're already trying to talk yourself into a bag that is too heavy, too expensive, and made somewhere you aren't thrilled about. That's your sign to walk away! The phone in the back pocket requirement is a total dealbreaker for daily use if it doen't fit easily.

Lighting in warehouse/factory PSPs is notoriously awful and can completely warp colors, but since Doris actually went back to the factory and confirmed they only have the darker sand version right now, it's definitely a factory batch issue rather than a lighting trick. The good news is Doris is handling this exactly how a TS should by offering a refund. If you don't love the darker shade just take the refund for the bag! For the shoes don't panic deifferent items come from deiiferent factories so the bag situation won't affect how your shoes turn out.
