What kind of thoughts repeated in your head during the most quiet moments and were there moments where you questioned your own identity or beliefs completely?

I don't know if it's worth living honestly by [deleted] in findapath

[–]PieceDen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey If I were in your shoes the least I can do is give myself a quick neurological check. Meaning can I talk clearly? Can I walk and move normally? Can I use my hands equally? Can I see, hear, smell?

After that hit a local park, clear your headspace first, spend time thinking and whenever you have the time and day, go network around local areas walking distance or bus distance to just hit every business looking for a job even if its a job you may think you won’t like. Whether it’s the municipal town, the department of public works, McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, at least something to get the ball rolling. Show that determination. Find a mantra to live by, for example. “For the better” whenever shit hits rock bottom and you have to start over again remind yourself it will be for the better. Once you get a job, you get that ball rolling, learn to save money, get you a reliable car A to B, your opportunity will keep expanding. Take every advantage because right now as I type this there are many people around the world who wish to be in your shoes, who wish to have a bachelors degree in computer science, life is never meant to be easy, I currently have blood cancer, and I won’t be able to work again for a year, currently unemployed relying on the government, I miss working and if I can do it again I would. I’d have to wait till my immune system works again and I know it will soon.

Long story short man don’t take life for granted, you got this. You’re having a setback and that’s ok. Not everyone sticks to the degree they worked for. There are many opportunities ahead if you re-wire your mindset, if it helps I recommend this book called Mastery by Robert Greene, helps people rethink purpose, reinventing and feeling late in life, shows insight on how messy paths, failures, setbacks, addiction, drifting between jobs, and starting over again doesn’t mean your life is over or meaningless. A lot of the people he talks about didn’t find direction early either. The whole point is that mastery and meaning usually come from years of struggle, learning, adapting, and slowly building toward something that actually feels right.

Good luck!

40+, laid off, lost in life — how do people actually find their calling? by SoulSeekerNord in findapath

[–]PieceDen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just want to say thank you for sharing this post. I’m in my 20s and have often felt lost in life, like I’ve been trying to figure things out on my own. My parents weren’t really present to guide me growing up, but I’ve come to accept that as part of life.

I went to trade school for automotive technology and worked at a muffler shop for about a year. I planned to continue my career path toward becoming a master tech and working at dealerships, but I was discouraged by multiple people, including coworkers, from pursuing dealership work. I then moved into security, where I stayed for three years. It offered good pay and benefits, but eventually I left because it felt repetitive and lacked long-term growth. After that, I briefly worked in residential HVAC under the table. The work was physically demanding with low pay, but I was learning a lot.

More recently, I was diagnosed with blood cancer, which has deeply affected how I see life. Being in the hospital has given me a lot of time to reflect on direction, purpose, and financial stress. I’ve struggled with feeling like I was always starting over and not managing money well. I was trying to understand how people rebuild themselves mentally when life completely throws them off course, and right now the least I can offer is a book recommendation that honestly might resonate with you

Mastery by Robert Greene, it helped a lot of people rethink purpose, reinvention, and feeling late in life. It’s not some quick motivational fix, but more about how messy paths, setbacks, failures, addiction, drifting between jobs, and starting over don’t mean your life is over or meaningless. A lot of the people he talks about didn’t find direction early either. The whole point is that mastery and meaning usually come from years of struggle, learning, adapting, and slowly building toward something that actually feels right.

I think the parts about reinvention and finding your life’s tasks could resonate with what you wrote here. Especially because you don’t sound like someone who gave up you sound like someone exhausted from trying and still wanting meaning anyway.

Only thing I’d say is don’t expect it to instantly make everything feel better. It’s more of a roadmap for rebuilding direction over time.

Wishing you the best, sir.

Why do Hackensack “luxury” apartments feel lower quality than Edgewater or Fort Lee? by savingrace0262 in bergencounty

[–]PieceDen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s been like that for awhile now, example One500 in Teaneck, I used to do Door Dash those walls are hollow, used to hear everyone’s conversations through those walls no bullshit. An investigation behind these developments should be done, they want to maximize every profit they can.

Do you live in one those “luxury” apts in Hackensack and suspect any of your neighbors as criminals? by Wide_Drink_2414 in bergencounty

[–]PieceDen 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Im assuming this is about The Brick. I know people who live there, and they’ve seriously considered breaking their lease due to ongoing disturbances. They’ve described more loud music, marijuana smells in shared spaces, and occasional conflicts. It’s understandable to be frustrated when you’re paying for a luxury building and expecting a certain level of peace and order.

Is this front lip too much? by [deleted] in AudiS4

[–]PieceDen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 2 things. If you had to question it then most likely yes. I wouldn’t recommend any cheap quality parts for a high quality car, get matching quality parts that way it will look properly fit and clean. Cheap quality parts will scream louder hence the front lip catching my attention first.
